How do you get gigs? (In Providence)

Ive been fooling around with djing for the past couple of years, but have only played a few house parties. I would like to do a few smaller bars or clubs and get my feet wet but I have no idea who to contact. I went to one place andhanded them a demo. They told me that they only go through an agency. The guy wasn't very cooperative so I wasn't able to get any contact information on the agency. If anybody is around the Providence area and knows this stuff Id be very appreciative of some help.

there are prob. people that can help you a lot more than me, but i'd just try hitting up as many places as possible (at the very least you might get some leads and meet people).

providence has a shitload of lounges and some normal clubs like ultra, the complex, or therapy. the guys at groovefire have done a lot of events around providence and newport (i vaguely recall seeing them spin at a lounge called tantric) so they might be able to offer you some advice.
