i hope i did the right thing....

I had a job to go to tomorrow, $13.50 /hour driving a forklift and lifting 80lb bags of shit.

i agreed to it and i was like 'cool.i can work again'

then i got a call from this other place, and they're like 'would you like to come in for an interview?"

"i duno wtf is it?"

"doing orders and shit on computers... 28k/year"

wtf is 28k? is that good? i duno. i've never had a salary before.

lets hope they dont ask somthing stupid like 'do you have highschool?"

or somthing.

With your apparent level of education you should be happy with 28k a year.

Posted by Floorfiller on Mar-13-2006 21:44:

well if you work full time at the forklift thing...13.5...full time...about 25k before taxes..

a full work year is about 2000 hours. take your hourly wage, double it and add 3 zeros to get a rough approximation of your yearly net. so 28K / year works out to $14 / hour before taxes.

And you are right. He should learn from his mistakes.
But I can assure you he has come in here for advice time and time again and then repeatedly fucked it up.

It's time for him to get his act in motion. It truly saddens me
There would have a been a time where I would have blatently insulted him but now I pretty much have given up on lil Bradley

Posted by BTG on Mar-13-2006 22:36:

i've learned from lots of my mistakes jdat.

sex with out condoms with british girls you've just met = bad
skipping work to do coke = bad
telling your boss to fuck himself after he let you go = bad.

the last job i had I got laid off, and i have a good refrence.

btg's movin on up. and yes..28 isn't great, but the job isn't a dead end job, so i can move up to technial support they said, after i've proved my worth. and who knows, maybe i'll go to school again one day.

Posted by UWM on Mar-13-2006 23:01:

That was bse not btg.

Go with the PC job, probably more room for advancement. Do you really want to be a forklift operator?

When first moved to the UK, I was on $19k, no degree or anything.
Over the past 4 years, I have made it to $35k, still no degrees, and a hell of alot of fun

Project Manager for the biggest Cellular Telecoms company in Europe.

Marc: Depends where you live, I live in London, which is pretty pricey, though if I didn't have my loan repayments and credit card debt, my disposable income would prolly be about $870 a month.

That's after rent, food, travel, cell-phone and adsl.
