CDJ Advice

hello, i know this has prolly been posted like a hundred times but here it goes again. I was curious about djing so i went out and bought the Pioneer DJS software. I love it and have been mixing with it for about 3 months. I am ready to step up to the real thing. I went down to Guitar center today to make a purchase, but upon going there i am completely lost. I know that i want to spin CDJ but im not sure which one, I was looking at Pioneers and Denon. I also have no idea what mixer to get, i was looking at a bunch, and they all seemed pretty similar? Any advice on what to pickup would be great, I have some cash but not enough to be buying the new DJM800 or the CDJ1000mk stuff. I would like to get some equipment that is nice and durable and will not restrict any of my mixing....thanks in advance for any help

I'de recommend 2 Pioneer CDJ 200s, and a DJM 300. That should cost you a little over $1,000. Should be good enough for just starting out, should last you quite some time till you have the $$ for something new, however they should last you. I own CDJ 1000 MK2s, they were $$ but I saved up. I had a mixer already from my previous set up (Vestax PCV 275).

Take your $1000 and do this:

2 CDJ 200s (total $800)
a used Numark 2 channel mixer off ebay (something like DM2002x) $50

then spend $150 or so downloading tracks from beatport.com, audiojelly.com, etc.

Are you talking about the Numark Matrix 2?? I've heard pretty bad things about it. It's made very cheaply. If you wanted to get a mixer from Numark, i'de go with the DXM 06 or the DXM 09, or even th PPD01, but definitely not that one. It probably wont last you anymore than 6 months to a year. The DXM 06 or the PPD01 (if you can find it) will probably cost just a little more than the Matrix 2, but they are considered much better mixers.
