Best beginner mixer for psy/melodic trance ~$500

Hey hows it goin guys, sorry for the "Best ..." thread but I need some advice. I'm really into psy/goa and melodic trance, what would you recommend for a beginners mixer? A good quality one and I'm looking to spend about ~$500 for the mixer alone.

Thanks
Oh and before you say it I did do a bunch of searches that turned up nothing

I think one of the best mixers in your price range is the Vestax VMC-004. It's 4 channel (each channel has a 3 band isolator) which will work well with your style of music. Its pretty cheap too, around $300. http://www.djdeals.com/vestaxVMC004.htm . I might be selling mine very soon (replacing it with a Xone:62) If you are interested I can let you know once I am ready to sell it (probaby within a few weeks). Anyways, good luck finding the right mixer for yourself!

i just dont get it. whats so great about the Vestax mixers?

They are tried and tested.
They are durable, usable and sound pretty good.
Iv only used a few and two of those where at a radio station where you could tell they had taken beatings (paint chipped off and scartched to the crap house) and after years it was still working fine.
Its just the same as techs, you know its quality.

Thanks for the advice, that one looks pretty good, whats the difference between the 004 and the 004XL though?

The 004 is the older model the XL is the newer one, so get the XL... IN WHITE

Not sure what the cost of the Xone 32 is where you live.. But I was looking at getting that when I get another setup..

the xone32 is $800 here in the US, I'm don't really think its worth it when I'm just starting out, what do you guys think?

In the long run you obviously save money.
Cheap mixer = having to upgrade later on.
Xone32 should suit your needs for a while.

But by the time the Vestax wore out wouldn't I want to upgrade to a more advanced mixer? Or do they wear out quickly.

The vestax will last you a number of years. Its all personal preference. If you feel that having a mixer that has four eqs per channel, filters and more features overall will overwelm and dsitract you from learning the basics, by all means go for something more simple. I personally wished i had started with something better then a simple 2ch mixer because it wasnt long after i got it that i felt limited.

Thanks for the advice, I think I'm going to go with the Vestax, for the money it seems to have the best features and sound/build quality.
