Let's have the review......AVB @ 4th and B

Ok to start off, personally, I could not STAND the shadow boxes!!! I couldn't dance my normal self, I had to be more flowy for the sake of the shadow, and then they didn't have the podiums up yet when we got there. Ugh, issues!

Anyway, on to the boys though. Again.........Armin threw down another amazing set and rocked the house. Great vibe on the dance floor from what I saw, electro breaks, damn shadow boxes, I could of got my eagle on and poplocked better!!! Loved it.

Markus of course was dark and hard, the dance floor was still packed when he came on which was great!!!! I noticed though that Boris (who got the house busy), Markus and Armin played the same tunes.....hhmmmmmm??? Aw well. It's good to have an Armada night once again.....

Damn shadow boxes, I didn't perform up to par because of having to be more fluid. Sucks but oh well, more nights to come. Now...........what's your take on the night??

P.S

Awesome seeing all the TA's there!!!

Well, the shadow boxes were kinda cool on the other side. Especially when you see a dance pulling her bottoms off behind the shadow.. Makes you wonder.

Anyhow, after dealing with a line fiasco I finally got in around 10:20. Boris MD is opening it up, and I was surprised to hear him play some stuff I like. He did his job and set it up for Armin to have an amazing set. Armin was amzaing as usual. Especially liked Control Freak. Armin's set was right where it needed to be, with a lot of Sander van Doornish type of tracks. Loved every minute of it, and always want more. Especially liked Shadow World, Incogntion and Remember Me by Interstate!

I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Markus was closing, I haven't seen him close yet. Totally great closing set. Some very cool tracks, withan Electro sound to them. Markus really threw it! down, I danced more for Markus than Armin.. Killer tunes!

Other than that, my brain isn't working too good since I have been up now for like 28 hours.. With no "help".. Thats all for now.

Great seeing you through the shadows Des.

I so agree. What's with that? You could have had a movie playing on a sheet and it would have been the same effect. Now if the dancers were in front of the background with their images projected behind larger that life that would interesting. I did love all the dancers and I thought the outfits were great. And Deslyn you are a beautiful woman and move fabulously to the music. Take a bow.

Also the will call/wanttickets line has to be redone. With the technology available why have one person looking up everybodys name on a sheet of paper. One person. Anybody ever heard of a scanner? I left the house with a nice buzz and by the time I eventually got in I was flat. Then Armin dropped the Kraftwerk "Computer Love" rework (It is not a Coldplay song!) and all was fine again.

Overall a really great night. Thanks to all who's efforts went in to put it on.

Must get back to work. I will chime in later.

Awesome night last night! We got there at 9:45 and walked right in with some help from a friend and the main stage wasn't even set up when we got in so we headed upstairs to grab some drinks and chill until Boris came on downstairs.

Went downstairs at I don't know what time and saw Michelle, Kris and Mike D. (nice to finally meet you DJFaded).

I have to say that I did enjoy listening to Boris but it sounded like it was a recording for 'a year in trance' or something..only a few songs that had me dancing good because they weren't overplayed tunes.

Armin came on as scheduled around 11:30 and pretty much owned the place throughout his set. I promised myself I'd stay downstairs and be front and center for Armin but half of his set I was up in VIP and we had bottle service so I couldn't pass it up. BUT when we dusted the Grey Goose it was straight back down to the front to see the rest of Armin and more importantly Markus!

Markus always tears the roof off in my opinion. I enjoyed Markus more than Armin last night and I loved Armin's set. Schulz just hits home with the hard, dark prog style and I love every second of it.

The only track I absolutely hated the whole night was Timo Maas - Pictures...why do DJ's spin that song? The track is great but the voals and lyrics are fucking retarded..isn't there a remix out yet that doesn't have the stupid ass vocals?

Posted by Zombie0729 on Mar-18-2006 19:27:

dez, just shot you a msg on myspace about the boxes... didn't realize u had posted the same thing here.

anyways, the club was wall to wall packed last night. I was all on vicodin's & ibuprofens because of my wisdom teeth but still the energy of the place totally lifted my mediocore state.

tracks i remember:

boris: R-Tem - Breathe!!!!!!!! (thanks!!!)
Air for life (airwave remix)

Armin: started off with Coldplay - Talk (Junkie XL Remix) - the place went mad
Deep Dish - Dreams (Axwell Remix) - which, i have this on CD-R now and it sounds nothing like the 5 piece guitar armin plays. regardless thats what his ASOT playlists say

there was much more, just drawing a blank. good seeing everyone

Indeed (except about the part about the track itself being great, as we argued over on DI) I asked Armin NOT to play that song before the show (because I knew he was planning to), but he did anyway And he followed it up with Interstate - Remember Me

I would add a comment about how it relates to pedophilia, but I've already received a death threat from an Armada guy for bringing this up

Well great to meet/see the TA's that I did. My crew had a fookin blast and it was fun cruising around the place to see all the remodelling (didn't go to the last 2 shows there).
Des you rocked the shadow. Great job even though you had to deal with that.
Boris always plays stuff I like. I'd go see him spin anytime. Armin was just excellent as this was my first time seeing him and I'll be there the next and next.. Markus was great for closing. He had a ton of energy and kept us going. My drunk ass jumped on stage to give him props ahahah. damn drunks.
Personally I'm even more stoked for Hernan now seeing how good of a vibe last night was. hope to see everyone there. Im going back to sleep now, my face hurts

Yeah because a dj really cares what one person has to say about his track selection.

yeah they were retarded. i never got to meet ya but i was there. you were amazing and your soo beautiful!

well my review follows

well to say the least it was an awesome night. i got there at 930 and the stage wasnt even done. they were directing people up stairs where someone was playing some house. so my sister, her bf, some friends, and i were hanging out up stairs till they finally allowed people on the main floor at around 1015 or so. once they did that less than 5 mins later boris got on. he started his set off with some really good tracks. he spun till around 1130-1200 and then armin got on. armins set was amazing. he played a bunch of stuff i have never heard before. by this time the place was packed like sardines. it kinda started getting better as his set drew to a close. at the end of armins set markus put a song on. and then armin came and purposely messed it up and made the beats go together well. he closed out his set with making the sound go silent. then markus started it back up again and his set (the 30mins i was able to see of it) was very good. i loved it. wish i could have stayed for the whole thing but oh well. i am seeing him tonight! it was nice finally actually meeting kris, philippe, robstern, kawizx6r, and vince (cant remember his ta name).

well see you all tonight at spundae 5th anniversary!

Love is in the air

First off LA Traffic Sucks ass. I left to go pick Kris up at 2 and got there all most 2 hours later! But we flew down the highway to SD. WTF!

Well regardless we get to the instore a little after 5:30. Talk about a candy store. They sold everything. Records, CD's, Mixers, Turntables, CDJ's, lights. You name it they pretty much had it.

At 6pm Markus and Boris walk in and they start doing the meet and Great. About 20 or so people showed up and Both Markus and Boris signed records and CD's. It was very chill and not too crazy that I like. Markus also got up and talked with everyone that came. The Meet and Greet ended at 7 and it was time to go find parking near the club, and get something to eat and some much needed caffine.

I was lucky and found a $10 lot with a spot open behind the club!
Philippe met Kris and I at the lot and we headed over to the hard rock for some food and drinks. Mike and Robert met us here as well.

After dinner it was back to the club. The Guest list line was HUGE all ready. But with a little help from Dave Dean Kris and I where in no time. The Stage was not set up yet so it was time to mingle.

A little after 10. Boris MD started. I have been on here before and called him Boring MD but Friday night was not the case. He played awsome opening set. Dark Proggie Trance sounds filled the club. Soon the dance floor started filling up and around 12 Armin came on.

All of a sudden the club became packed and the frount became uber crowed. The first track Armin played was Talk(Junkie XL remix) Then he went into some wired electro track. ehhh. But then back to some really nice trance. Everyone was going Crazy when he went on.
Lets see

Mark Otten- So Scearen TUNEEEEEEE
Thomas B. Shadow world
Sail
Who's watching
Interstate- Remeber me(remix)
ZirenZ - Edge of Space (Whiteroom Remix) TUNEEEEEEEEE!!!
Armin was indeed on Fire on Friday. He did his ASOT set up. Start off more progy, then bulid it to dance your ass off energy! I had to step away from the craziness a few times so I could enjoy the music and dance.

At 2pm Markus came on. The dance floor was still packed. Deep, Dark can not stop smiling or dancing tunes came from the speakers.
Markus was amazing. I thought his set had better flow then Armin's and he stole the show. His presnce and energy is so infectious.
Marco V- False Light(Markus Schulz bootleg mix) TUNNNNNEEEEEEEEE
Airwave Featuring zgr Can - Mice
Andy Moor Vs A&B Air for life(orgie I think..)
Dogzilla- With out you
With out you Near(coldharbour edit)
Tiesto-Traffic(remix)
Ozgur Can- Eighties
Electro Flux vs Find( Markus Schulz Meshup)
N&K- Open your eyes( Markus Schulz vs Elevation remix)
There where other tracks I reconized but have no ideas what the ID's are. I know there was a Matthew Dekay track in there. But that dosn't matter. What really matters was that Markus set was non stop fun!

It was great seeing so many TA's there. I even met some new ones as well. I had so much fun in SD

I see Great events happing with Poka Dot, Relive Tribe and Giant takeing over. SD. SD has great potential to become another Meca for EDM in the west cost.

Posted by gehzumteufel on Mar-19-2006 22:01:

i would have to agree with that. sd has a lot of potential especially with the new belo opening.

Posted by deslyn on Mar-20-2006 03:47:

Don't even get me started on the white sheets! Say something to Dave Dean about that, not our call. We did the best we could with what we had to work with.

It was great seeing the TA's!!!
