[PSY Trance] Barry Kane - Birth (Full Track)
Track is finished. had to load it up to soundclick as im not in university and can't upload it to my webspace. Let me know if its good/shit or terrible.
Cheers
kane
The percs and clap all sound really tight. I like the scrapy metallic thing at .40. That heavily filtered clicking at 1.10 is very, very cool. The bass is good. The whole thing is very solid. I would call it some sort of psy. I really like it so far. I don't quite like the arp at the break, but I love the one sound over top (not the bell the other one). I would love to hear the whole thing. But I enjoyed it. All the sounds blended well, and it sounded rich and fairly mastered on my system.
I don't like the kick. All the other sounds are really cool. It sounds like there is too much low end to me, but I'm not totally sure. Try rolling off 35hz because it seems there's too much going on in those frequencies. It definitely has somewhat of a psy trance feel to it with those sounds. It reminds me a little bit of Shpongle. The bass sounds pretty good. I thought at 1:25 something was going to happen, but nothing was added. I think it takes too long to pick up without adding anymore elements. The arp doesn't do it for me at all. Change up the notes a little more to add some creativity behind it. I'm assuming you're trailing off at the beginning of the buildup section so that's the end of my comments.
interesting about the kick. ill have a look at that and see what i can do about it.
i used that arp to try and keep it trancy as i thought it was going quite electro once i introduced the guitar bass.
cheers guys!
bump.. ill listen tonight bro
Hey,
commenting as I listen.
The swirl sound sounds a little sharp, but ok. The sound itself is nice.
The kick is pretty massive compared to the rest. Dont know if this was your intention, but in my opinion it could do with a little bit less oomph.
Solid bass. I like the low frequencies in this track.
1:30 ... nice groove to the track. I like the layers of percussion and the small bits of melodies. The FX are very nice. The kick keeps this one banging very well here.
The melody in the breakdown is not too much my cup of tea. Doesnt sound so great IMO.
Good one, I liked the drive of kick, bass and percussion, and you got some good FX too.
Keep it up dude, I think there is a lot of potential in this tune
The most have already been said pretty much.
But I have to say I like the percs and fx.
I would really like to hear more of it...
thanks cybernetica and taste, appreciate the feedback
i think ill have a look at the melody as someone else didnt like it.
thanks again
Hey barry
YOu have a great groove going on here , and I do like the kick, and it works well with the hi-hats. Bassline is driving, and you have some nice background FX. Nice arp coming in here as well I can hear.
This is your best yet barry, you are improving without doubt mate!
I concur pretty much with Cyber in almost all, also I dont liked the work over the bass, it has too much reverb though, but it sounds too wide.
I personally would use a deeper kick, to give more deepness to the tune, to work more with the panoramics and maybe to add a loop in the background to give more presence to the drums, the rest is pretty good, nice athmoshpere.
Kopi =o.
i like the kick.
percs are nice and low key so dont stand out too much so the track has a nice relaxed feel.
offbeat kick. this is nice. sounds good. i like the reverb.
this overall is sounding clean and well balanced imo. the kick punches nicely
break - this sounds great. i like the notation of the bass. and your flute sound is cool!
sample ends
i look forward to where you go with this. i feel a melody that mirrors the bass in the break (but one octave higher) would work well
nice work barry- i think this has potential to be a track i would enjoy a great deal..
rich

good work bro
i didnt like the last track myself anyway. just needed an excuse to delete it lol.
Where's the rest? I loved this song. It felt like you were building up to something....then it just ends. More please. Edit: Unless you are keeping the rest to yourself for copyright reasons...
You had some really cool effects in there...
Edit: I'm still new to making music myself so I tend to miss things in reviews I do for others. I do agree that another kick drum should be used - something a little looser in my opinion.
thanks daw. still working on it so once its finished the full version will be available.
cheers for the feedback mate.
yo mate,
nice tune, very much better than your last one imo.
most things i have to say were already mentoined.
kick and bassline together remembers me a bit of the pvd stuff. sounds great and very driving indeed.
anyway, the kick could be a bit deeper, the release on the bassline is a little bit to long imo.
i like the melody that fades in during the break. realy has some potential imo.
keep on working.
cheers, nik.
thanks everyone for the feedback
track updated
0.50 ...Love the liquidy drips panning around. they sound great.
As mentioned already, the kick is killer.
1:20 Great first impressions so far. nice long release acidy mids.
1:50 bass is warm. I like the high horror movie squill pads.
2:30 Nice use of left/right space on the mid synth.
3.00 the break doesnt have much momentum imo. Maybe add some more fx or pads. Not sure what to suggest, but it doesnt build up...
3:22 pretty nice groovy pattern change. the frequencies are a bit harsh.
3:55 the bass sounds out of tune.
Impressive work Dj Kane. I enjoyed it.
Grab the psy/tech/experimental alliance sig if you like. I'm definitely adding you to that alliance after listening to this great tunezerz.
update - the kick has a big punch! nice kick!
percs are nice. not too generic. i like your background noises you have going on.. like the single note flute sound...
structure - the build is nice. the bass is great! really driving!
break- i can here m.i.k.e influences here
really spacey.
kick comes back - this is quite psy sounding. i love the original notation. - single bassnote clashes with it... your gonna have to follow that melody with the bass..... and use some of your driving percs during this point. the ones you used at the build..
also id say introduce that main melody very subtly during the break.
great stuff! you are progressing very well
rich
it sounds very nice
liked it
what are you using as sequencer ?
btw , thanks for comenting at my thread

haven't got time to produce at the minute with all my uni work but ive got a version of the track on myspace. not the original version, this version is called the "deep edit".
Dude, I dont see the link to listen to it
.
Kabuki o(.
the track is on my myspace page. its not the finshed version though. the breakdown needs to be much neater, making a lot of changes to that and the outro needs fixing. although i need people to tell me whether its got a good sound to it.
cheers
HERES THE LINK JUST IN CASE! CLICK
Deep Edit:
Kick is tight.
I like the subtle acid in the background.
Nice darkness in the break.
Melody has a nice pre-'96 vibe to it. Very straightforward but trancey. I like it a lot.
I can't find any links to the original. Did you delete them?
