i hate that everything is so pricy, im just getting into it and buying all my gear atm. its costing me around 2500$ USD for everthing 
. How much did you spend on your gear when you started? and also are you make any money out of it?

btw, i'm not in it for the money.
Counting my Powerbook, which I use Ableton while DJ'ing for, I've spent just under $3500.
However, this thread should go here.
im not in it for the money etheir but it would also be nice to get some money out of all the money you put towards it.

You made a bad one.
You will more than likely never make your money back. Remember... it takes music to make sound. You have to buy the music as well. People dont want to hear old shit.

i bought my tech 12s off sombody in thetoronto forums for $1000i think. my buddy gave me a mixer, and vinyl...i've spent over 2 grand probably.
About 1650 for 2 CDJs, mixer, and EFX.
about 1700 for:
2 Pioneer cdj 200's
1 Numark DXM 06 mixer
1 Stanton Pro DJ 3000 headphone set
1 set of Alesis Monitor 1 MK 2 speakers
aaaand my amp was free.

I spent well over 6 grand on my setup and vinyl over many years. Of that.. I probably only made back about 1700.

Gone from shit Numark packages to technics, cd decks, half a dozen mixers, 600+ vinyl too. though I am very happy now with my powerbook and Ableotn live; and other goodies too.
DJ'ing isnt cheap.. i think its the records that gets ya!
My partner and I spent about 11000$, not counting $2500 laptop (which I had before) and music.
We're mobile DJs, so we have to buy all the amps and speakers and lasers and scanners and shit too.
Next in line - DJM-400 for me plus 2x XP10 controllers for Virtual DJ.
The price is the only thing stopping everyone and their mother to want to be a serious dj. And good. last thing we need is to have every second person a cookie-cutter dj.
