I get ringing in my ears, but I've never considered getting it diagnosed as a medical condition. I imagine it's more serious than the regular ringing?

Posted by ivanbee on Mar-20-2006 01:57:

it's like...non stop 24 hours a day RINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNG in my ears. when i was a little kid i would always get ear infections and i think i might have busted my ear drums somehow. then when i was in high school i was in a band and i know i fucked them up playing the guitar. i've been wearing ear plugs every time i go out for the last year but lately its like the ringing is getting louder

Ive never used those to cure your problem, but just to unclog the ears of wax. They work wonders.

You could but with the piece sticking out it may be a problem so getting custom made ones might be better.

In regards to your tinitus do you have any problem sleeping?
Have you consulted a specialist?
If the problem is really really bad you should get a white noise machine for the day and a ambiance/noise generator for the night.

Posted by Sunsnail on Mar-20-2006 02:18:

yeah i hate it. earplug yourself for a day and it'll decrease

Posted by jonze on Mar-20-2006 02:22:

i dont have it, but my mom does. she's had a couple surgeries to correct it.

no problems sleeping whatsoever...haven't seen a specialist about it either, i prolly should.

i'm gonna try the candle thing cus this chick at work is all into homeopathic medicine and she swears it helps with tinnitus...i'll let you guys know how it goes tomorrow

oh and aren't custom made earplugs like hundreds of dollars?

Ear candling isn't 100% safe and it may not solve your problem.

Custom earplugs cost around 120+ $

Theres much debate on that subject, actually. Try doing the same thing only use your hand (in a fist). Youll get the same results.

I bet I can find a link...

Link.

"Hence the wax that is pushed out from an ear cone is not from the ear, as purported, but rather is a product of the candle itself," they concluded in an article published in Skeptical Inquirer. Ear candles don't produce a vacuum either, so they could not possibly suck wax from the ear.

"Since wax is sticky, the negative pressure needed to pull wax from the canal would have to be so powerful that it would rupture the eardrum," says Lisa M.L. Dryer, MD, writing for quackwatch.org, a web site devoted to combating health-related frauds, myths, fads, and fallacies.

I've tried those earcandles and I didn't feel any difference afterwards. I got tinnitus too, but not too bad. I hear a faint ringing when I'm about to go to sleep.

I got curious wether those candles did suck up any wax and cut them open with a scissor after I used them. Man the things I saw inside those candles.. gross!

See a freaking specialist. Some hippie ear clearing thing even if it worked would be far from solving your problem.

If you have serious tinnitus you may have to consider wearing a noise generator all day:

This is real serious stuff and you should not play around with it some people truly go insane because of tinnitus.

I seriously cant even imagine what its like. My ears ring after shows and I want to die. I do think you should see a doctor, though.
