do you dance to anything but EDM?

i was in ottawa on the weekend visiting some friends and they all listen to rock and roll. it was a change to listen to some good rock and roll again. i heard this band called the eagles of death metal. if you wanna dance and you like rock and roll...then you should check them out.

I dance to punk as well. (much differently than edm though!) Lots of times I actually prefer punk to edm.

somtimes I try and be slutty dancing with my gf to hip hop... but thats mainly done as a joke.

I reserve all my dancing energies for EDM.

Dancing...
if it feels good, do it

who cares about what kind of music it is!

Outside of anything electronic, latin music and jazz can be great to dance to, and slow songs at weddings!

I can dance to pretty much anything.

Posted by dittoalex on Mar-20-2006 23:05:

I only listen to EDM.

i rock it out HARD to polka!

there's something about that accordian that tickles my fancy like no other!

Posted by Stilez on Mar-20-2006 23:13:

I'm latin...

... we dance to everything

Posted by Izra on Mar-20-2006 23:20:

I havn't tried much, latin music seems danceable.

Sad

Once, I went to a formal with my gf .... and danced to Euro (and some hip-hop and slow stuff, but mainly euro). It was a tramautizing experience.

On a side note, I found dancing to Euro actually pretty hard. The DJ kept doing those stupid-ass z103 tempo changes that were completely random and kept throwing me off. Or maybe it was the fact that I was disgusted with myself for dancing to Euro.

nusty, I'll agree with you on the hip-hop dancing being kinda funny. Especally that where the two of you get right down to the floor. I have no idea how anyone is able to do that with a straight face as it looks and feels incredibly tacky and stupid.

Posted by Platipus on Mar-20-2006 23:21:

Well I'm always down with some foxtrot...

Posted by Cribby on Mar-20-2006 23:28:

I can't enjoy dancing to anything other than edm...it's just not the same anymore :P

Posted by Irishaddict on Mar-20-2006 23:42:

Dancing is fun!

I don't discriminate.

Posted by Orko on Mar-20-2006 23:42:

You could only dance like [[ LINK REMOVED ]]
to EDM

Posted by Ablefunk on Mar-20-2006 23:47:

The only kind I actually enjoy dancing to other than EDM is FUNK. Maybe some soul. When it comes to the likes of James Brown, the commodores, curtis mayfield, etc, its just too fun to shake it.

when i was in new york they were playing more funk and soca calypso than anything else even hip hop. its really fun music though and it made me dance. you can tell how much different that city is than ours

I love dancing and if the mood is right, will dance to anything - even to silence... lol.

Latin dancing is amazing - I wish I was better at it!

I'm leaving for the Island of St. Lucia on Thursday, so yeah, I'll be dancing to soca, raggae, and the like, and hopefully some raggeton.

But this thread reminds me of a great song on an 80s vinyl album I have by the Dead Milkmen;

"Instant Club Hit (you'll Dance To Anything)"

You'll dance to anything [x4]

Oh, baby, look at you
Don't you look like Siouxsie Sioux
How long'd it take to get that way
What a terrible waste of energy
You wear black clothes say you're poetic
The sad truth is you're just pathetic
Get into the groove just get out of my way
I came here to drink not to get laid
So why don't you just go on home
'Cause if you want to moan you'll have to moan alone

You'll dance to anything [x2]

Don't try to tell me that you're an intellectual
Cause you're just another boring bisexual
"I met Andy Warhol at a really chic party"
Blow it out your hairdo 'cause you work at Hardees
80 pounds of make up on your art school skin
80 points of I.Q. located within

Know what you are? You're a bunch of ...
Artfags! Artfags! Artfags! Artfags!
Choke on this you dance-a-teria types!

You'll dance to anything by The Communards
You'll dance to anything by Book of Love
You'll dance to anything by The Smiths
You'll dance to anything by Depeche Commode
You'll dance to anything by Public Image Limited
You'll dance to anything by Naked Truth
You'll dance to anything by any bunch of stupid Europeans who come over here
with their big hairdos intent on taking our money instead of giving your
cash, where it belongs, to a decent American artist like myself!

You'll dance to anything!

I dance to euro as well, but I consider that EDM! (so that don't count.)

Other than EDM, all I dance to is some good ol' fashion polka music as Ryan said, and then only during Oktoberfest in Waterloo/Kitchener in the fall!

w00t w00000t!! THOSE are such fond, great memories from going to school there!!

The Germans know how to do it up richtig!
