Is Sasha's Qat 2 underated?

I just got Sasha's 1994 release on Deconstruction called Qat Collection 2 and its fucking brilliant. So I ask the rest of you, do you think that Sasha fans a)miss this gem b)or people simply ignore it and c) What do you think about this disc?

I keep seeing this in HMV. What style is it?

Posted by GrimReaper on Mar-21-2006 16:41:

I love both Qat Collections. So damn brilliant material and the old sound i love. I have never ignored either one but no one ever mentions them anywhere which is a shame.

Posted by keithos27 on Mar-21-2006 17:29:

isn;t this qat 1 with extra songs, or was that qat 1 remixed or something like that?

Posted by Clovis on Mar-21-2006 17:33:

I need to get ahold of this.

both the first & the second are good albums. prefer the first to the second because it genually has a stronger fit and that the second is more or less a revise of the first. but the second has one of the best remixes i've heard of a sasha track being pob's remix of magic. tom fredickse & sasha did genually good work on both of these.

i don't think the sound on these Qat collections really appeals to today's sasha fans. i enjoy them, but i've always enjoyed sasha. people that like older house will enjoy them though. plus the animal/minimal/vegetable Qat's are pretty cool...

yah, this is sasha before his work with charlie may,bt,richard dekkard, junkie xl,holden etc. ie. before he went into trance.

Yep and that's why it probably isn't as appealing to the fans of more recent Sasha.. it isn't as blim blom melodic all the time.

I want these for a long time now.The QAT 2 is available at Juno so I am planning to buy this at the near future.
The samples are great.

Older house is ftw, so is Sasha playing older house.

I should ask him to play some of these at Fundacion. lol

Simply classic. If you dig this, check out Arkham Asylum/Ohmna, Bedrock's Set In Stone/Forbidden Zone, the first two Renaissance compilations, and any older Sasha sets you can find.

is that the formula for eternal life? If so, i've been using that for years.

some of it sounds quite trancy to me (considering the samples at juno)

and i quite like half of those (except the ones with those annoying oldschool vocals), strange since i didn't like the renaissance mix at all

Exactly.

While the production itself isnt bad, those vocals ruin it all. That's why i dont like the Qat collections. Same with one of the most acclaimed CD's in history, Renaissance:The Mix Collection. I have not until this day understood the greatness of that CD. Good tracks but those really, really shit vocals makes it unbearable to me.

But then again im not into the sound of older House, so who am i to judge.

i think anyone in this thread that knows about the QAT Collection will know about all of those hehe...if they didn't i'd punch them in the face!

I went on a spending spree, I originally bought NE3 (UK version, not the wank ultra version) Qat 1, Qat 2 and Sasha presents Excession. The place that I bought Qat 1, ran outta stock, so I'm waiting for NE 3 and Excession. The mid 90's music wise has always picked my interested, I bought NE2 (MOS version) recently and how Sasha and DIgweed picked their tracks, I do not know.

Really shit vocals? I think you and I are listening to different Renaissance sets, my friend. Disc 3 is one of the greatest dance mixes of all time, and the other two are right behind it.

I don't understand how those vocals could be any worse than the garbage that Tiesto/AvB/PvD/etc use in their songs.
