random job interview

so i get this call, i answer. turns out the guy is from a company called 'atm' or 'acm'. i got placed on a list by someone i know, the list was called something along the lines of 'people qualified for this job', someone put me on that list. they said they're looking to expand their business in my area, blah blah. they want to interview me. i have almost no job experience, am in high school, all that. i dont really know what their company does, they just said everything would be explained at the interview. i agreed to go and set up an appointment for tommorow. this guy told me i could make somewhere between $3,000 and $5,000 a month starting. i believe he said the job was something business-related. so im going to get interviewed at a starbucks near my house. it sounded at least semi-legit. im not sure why they would call me at 9pm though.

does this sound like a good offer? what should i bring with me? the guy said just an ID and cell phone. should i even bother going? whats up with it all? my mom said it sounded kind of weird, but said she would drop me off there

I would bring a pair of track shoes to run the hell out of there when this guy asks to go on pre set-up appointments to sell vacuum cleaners or something. I would be very surprised if once you started the interview it didn't turn into a high pressure pitch to get you into a high-pressure, high-turnover job.

I dunno man.

You have no job experience, are in high school, and could make anywhere from $36,000 to $60,000 a year? Bullshit. I'd be prepared to just walk right out on the interview.

I was thinkin pyramid scheme too, I know plenty of people who got suckered into one of those back in hs...

they were all like, "yea this guy I work for makes tonsa money and he teaches us all about business and everything, he's so professional"

then I ask so what do u do and they say "I recruit people, you wanna join? you just need to pay a couple hundred bucks"

I hope if they actually learned something in hs, it was that they got suckered into a pyramid scheme, morons

definitely a scam-ish type thing. i almost got hooked into doing something like that also.. literally driving around, selling vacuums.

if anything i'd ask the guy to buy you a frappucino at starbucks and listen to the premise of the job. if you don't like it, leave. at least you got a free coffee.

are you ready for a job? to be honest i would rather stay in school and finish that first than this stupid thing taking over your high school years.
go and work a macca's lol.

its really entertaining to see the amount of emotion poured into your response...why does the internet bother you much...if so just ignore or maybe you feel the need to state the even more obvious...

ontopic - any legitmate business would take you to their storefront/office and not meet you at a local starbucks...i would steer clear of this

jebus, I thought this thread title was "rim job interview" and was like.... since when does one need to be interviewed for that position?

Posted by Krypton on Mar-22-2006 18:26:

i wouldnt trust it. what business holds interviews at starbucks, unless they are starbucks themselves?

bothered by the internet? nope.

bothered by rampant stupidity, which is all to often paraded with pride in this section of the forums? by lazy moronic imbeciles unable or unwilling to think for themselves? absolutely.

we all have our pet hates, and my constant disappointment with the human race is one of mine.
