Sidechaining in sx 3 video tutorial

For anyone interested in sidechaining in CUBASE sx3 , someone sent me this video, showing how to do it in steps. Quite good if you're having trubble setting it up. It's a 17 meg .rar file - 35 mb unrared.

Thanx to whoever made the video!

here is a yousendit link.

Nice one. I tried Compadre a while back and they had their own (video-)tutorial on their forum: OtiumFX Compadre Tutorial. Seems this one and the creators one approach it in different ways, but the effect is the same. Unfortunately though Compadre isn't freeware, but you can try out a demo.

i've tried this a few times saving to different HD's and it still says its corrupt. any chance someone else could yousendit, maybe just the vid, not in a zip/rar?

cheeeeeeeeeeeeers

There is one plroblem I noticed with that sidechain...You can't export the single track and have it sidechained. When you export the track it is not affected by the sidechain.

anyone know how to record the single sidechained track?

It works well for me.
Do you have newest version of winrar or winzip?

Man, do not make me nervous ...I din't try it yet, because I'm in the work, tonight I'll try it, but that's no sense of using it, if you can't export it. That's bad

if you know what sidechain is, it's very easy to do..

just don't use a trigger signal that's hearable. i never use my main kick as a trigger. it wouldn't sidechain anymore if the kick stops. so what i do is to use a second bassdrum which channel is muted. so i've a trigger which isn't hearable.

voil, you can export the track sidechained and you don't have anything else playing at the same time.

Posted by Limit on Mar-28-2006 03:47:

I'll try that but it doesn't make sense?? If I were to mute my main kick drum that I use for the sidechain, the sidechain stops...so whats the point of using another signal which is exactly the same process but just using another kick track. I dont get it?

Edit: Call me a dumb ass and sally too. I wasn't exporting the the Group track(i have no idea why I wasn't doing this??), I was exporting the track that was being sidechained, but when I thought about it logically exporting the group channel is what should be done, because the track that is being sidechained is set to the group channel.

Hope this helps anyone else having this problem.

Well, I think thecYrus meant you should pull the volume of the trigger all the way down and not simply pressing the mute button.
If you press mute, then the compressor won't get any signal and no compressing/sidechaining will take place.
By pulling the volume all the way down the compressor will still get a signal to compress on, while the kick isn't audible.

If the main kick stops for a bit, like in a break for example and you still want some elements to have that sidechained effect,
you should have the trigger still sending a signal to the compressor. Hope this clears it up a bit .

Yep thats also another way of doing it that I just found out. Thanks...man just when I think I unleashed all the power of SX it blows me away with even more features. I'm gonna dig deep inside my manual now.
