What is the one issue that really lights your fire?

What is the single political/social/economic topic that really lights your fire, that you have strongest opinions on?

For me that would be societal/cultural issues.

I'm really into the economy and the business world. Nowdays I'm reading alot of books about the stock market, real estate and many biographies of differet successful entrepreneurs and how they became rich. So you guys know what I voted for .

When France is ruling to much in the EU (national protectionism, EU tarrifs, CAP etc), then I get REALLY worked up!!!

I just watched the movie "Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room," and it made my blood really boil to how people can actually want a total free market system. It just goes to show that the people in the high places at buisness don't really have ethics when it comes to making them a profit, and it shows with how much freedom they have to have no ethics.

Not surprising. Culture/religion/society seems to be the biggie.

I just hate organized religion in general. And society as ass-backwards.

But this is nothing new.

Right, just because one company does it, it doesnt mean every company does it.

I'm into the economy also, simply because it's going to be 100% swallowed up by China if action isn't taken.

The economy is down now because of the war in iraq..but it will pick up again and be strong for the U.S

What, just becuase they havn't been caught, or their actions havn't been made public? There are many companies that do many unethical things that they can do to make a profit because they can slip through a hole in the system. Why doens't Starbucks raise and lower their prices with the price of coffee. Isn't it a commodity? Shouldn't it go up and down like gasoline prices. No, because Starbucks could give two shits about the coffee growers who could benifit from some of the these high priced profits. But instead, Starbucks wants to maximize their profits by keeping the price of a latte the same. Therefore, they make a profit regardless, while their coffee growers suffer with the price of coffee. Little things like that piss me off about a free market system and the freedom it gives to cooperate pigs who only care about profits an not about the people.

This is a very strange poll. My pet peeve, for instance, is stupid people doing things that hurt the interests of innocents, and that intersects all of the categories listed as options. Moreover, I'm puzzled as to what makes the riots in France "international"? It seems to me that only one country is involved?

Don't shade the whole 'free market' because of them.
They are a extreme case (and yes I watched the movie too) at that.
I can understand why you'd want to hate after watching it, it pissed me off too, however take a step back and realize there around thousands of real, ethical businesses out there that don't deserve to be grouped with this this scum.
Thanks to them, we all have Sarbanes-Oxley to deal with to counter these ever happening again.

It's outside of the US. You see, it might involve every country on earth, but if the US are part of it it's a "national" matter, and the real important issue to discuss is what the US should do in the situation. If they don't have fuck all to do with it, it's an "international" matter.

i'd vote philosophy, but i have absolutely no interest in the things you put in the parentheses for it... all the subjects in parentheses that do ineterst me are directly relavant to philosphy... so...

Well Kapaden to be quite honest, maybe Bush isn't a religious FANATIC, but he has in the past he has had "fanatic" tendencies.

IE: "The CRUSADE in Afghanistan".

Are you honestly trying to tell me there aren't people in the White House that would edit shit like that out of the president's speech? Please, Bush appeals to millions of Americans because he is very Christian and suprise, so is a huge portion (if not most) of the United States.


Whether he's a fanatic or not, meh I dont care, but for the leader of the country that posseses: A) The most firepower B) The most political influence and C) The strongest economy D) The sort of "center of the universe"/"Best there is" attitude, you'd think the leader would be a little bit more impartial and conserved about his religious views... Especially when democracy is what he's trying to convey, not 2000 year old bedtime/ghost stories about a jew with brown hair that probably didnt even exist, or if he did, simply wasn't all that special but became a huge icon. (Fun fact: Elvis is the second most recognisable person on earth, only to Jesus, wait wtf, no one's ever seen Jesus! Oh wait, well, Jehova's witnesses have witnessed god... God is jesus according to the trinity, oh wait shit... Jehova's witnesses used white out to get rid of the trinity in their bibles, shit... Nope, guess no one's seen jesus in oh I dunno, 2000 years!)
