Well... I will suggest PCDJ Red and BPM Studio. You can get both from kazaa or morpheus I think.

I've been using PCDJ lately. Just teaching myself how to DJ.. and NO, I don't use the BPM counters.. that's just cheating. If you have 2 soundcards you can have the main out on your speakers from soundcard 1, and soundcard 2 is your monitor. Main problem I've been having with it, however, is after I've been mixing (or trying too ), my older soundcard starts skipping and messing up in the monitor.. so its no fun trying to beatmatch when the beats are off timed. Ugh... hopefully I'll find a solution to this somehow.

But anyway... either of those 2 programs because they both emulate CDJ players the best IMO... but don't use BPM counters, etc.. because you might just become dependant on them.

or you can just use traktor, and split the master from your soundcard into 2 channels, one for master and other for monitor, so you use just 1 soundcard....

you buy a channel spliter at radio shack for 3 bucks, plug it into your soundcard, and your headphones into 1 and master into 2 channel.. its that simple

In my opinion, the best mixing software is Virtual Turntables.

there is a new version coming too: http://amazingforums.com/forum/DIGITOPIA/forum.html
