Why has Toronto become so ghetto?

The entertainment district is a sea of disgustingness lately. Nothing but thugs and yelling and screaming. I couldnt believe my eyes last night.

Id say republik and Lot 332 are the only clubs in the entertainment district that havnt been scarboroughized.

What happened to clubbing in Toronto?

Thanks god for republik, guvernment and the few normal clubs that are left out there because this city is headed towards the abyss.

Also,

in the 90s i used to pride the fact that the entertainment district was full of people and not a cop to be seen. Now its like total lockdown in baghdad every night.

If i didnt work at republik, id have quit this business by now.

I despise going to the club district, unfortunetly i am sometimes forced.

im quite happy the club i work for manages to keep that element out. But its sad that most of toronto has gone that way. It really upset me last night.

i read somewhere once that the total number of crimes in TO has gone down, but violent crime, namely shootings has gone up .. true?

you gotta ask urself why people choose to settle matters like this to know the real cause behind it ..

i remember reading an article about this last year for one of my classes. Crime overall, has gone down.

I blame these stupid club owners and the fact that they are so hungey to make money that they dont even care who comes in the club or what music is being played.Our club district is a piece of shit and I will never go down there ever again untill the those nasty thugs are gone and locked up in jail where they belong.

reminds me of the days around 2000 when everything in toronto after 2 was called arave. I was fully expecting to read about police busting up a "rave" at an all night tim hortons at one point.

btw- Scarbs isn;t as bad as people say it is...

well back in the day the only places that got shot up were places like the calypso hut or paradise lounge etc which happened to be the little holes in the walls in places like scarborough and rexdale.

Sadly that crowd has moved into the entertainment district and brought the problems with them. But now this is happening at what are supposed to be legit clubs.

Which leaves the people out there who just want to have trouble free fun no more options and they end up staying in the suburbs watching movies.

Its the americanization of toronto.

What did this? Mostly hip hop. Yeah music doesnt make people do things but there is no doubt that music affects the quality of crowd that comes to your venue. and some crowds are more prone to violence than others.

Like i said, republik plays mostly house music and has a good dress code. If it wasnt for these things i would have left the entertainment business by now.

ya i know,but it is not the rock or punk crowd that is causing the shit that is happening in this city it is the hip hop crowd.Every city has it is own problems and in Torontos case the thugs are the problem.

Sadly these days people dont go to clubs for the music (Iam not talking about the edm scence here) they go to show off and shoot someone in the head because he or she bumped into them earlier.

Yes it has. I read the stats can report on it last year, for a report i wrote for school.

Crime on the whole is down in Canada in the last 10 years. Ontario also has one of the lowest crime rates for provinces, per capita. Same with Toronto, in comparison to other major cities.

I completely agree. In fact, I bother to flat out stay out of that area and those clubs.

Only a handful of decent clubs left in the GTA. That, and raves are getting more and more rare.

Wasn't it you though who said America is our friend, and that you don't object to closer ties with America?

Because closer ties with America also brings America's problems to Canada as well.

nothing to do with this. Cross border Politics has not brought this on. What has brought this on was the toronto crackdown on nightlife and raves that left a void to be filled. And it was, with hip hop.


We need good relations to trade softwood and goods. This has nothing to do with that.

How I wish Canada wasnt neighbor to the U.S.
