Deportation begins
But here is the obvious question no one is asking... why are they only picking on mostly european illegals?
hmmmmmmmmmm

Marguerida Alvez is just one of hundreds of Portuguese immigrants in Toronto being forced to return home, but like so many of them, she feels her home is right here. Alvez spent Saturday, her last full day in Canada, packing up a life shes built over the last seven years. I want the minister of immigration to come to the airport tomorrow and see all of us, Alvez said. Maybe then hell have a change of heart and let us stay. When the ministry sent out deportation letters to dozens of families illegally residing in Toronto, some of them were given less than a week to leave the country. There are an estimated 15,000 illegal Portuguese immigrants currently living and working in the GTA and all are targets following a recent promise by immigration Canada to be more aggressive in getting them deported. But some say their value in Canada is being vastly underestimated. These are people who in fact are very much contributing to the economy and growth of this city and country, said Toronto Liberal M.P. Mario Silva. As for the Alvez family, theyre left just hoping for a last-minute miracle before they have to wake up and start anew. Its nothing but memories, said Alvezs son, Rafael. Its like a dream that happened and you woke up and its all over. And of course their deportation will affect many in Canada who arent going anywhere. To not be able to see them anymore, thats my most emotional point, said Melanie Desousa, an Alvez family friend |
they had this story covered on Global news last night.
I am sure there are MANY others that are in Canada illegally. Why narrow it down to Europeans? Why don't they target everyone then?
Doesn't make any sense.

same reason as to why the criteria for a European is a whole lot different than that for someone from a different part of the world.

I say deport ALL illegals no matter their race. That way it's definately not racism. But to go after just the europeans is very racist indeed. And the hypocrisy is that society doesn't even see it that way. I know too many people in this country who struggled to get in the legit way. And its a slap int he face to them when illegals are allowed to live here unabated. |

640 news is all over this, bottom line Europeans are too hardworking to spend another second running around in backword beaucratic circles in Canada aswell....they are too smart to do anything other than let politicians talk until they forget the topic......I think this is more of a "it's not just non-whites who are illegal immigrants" type of BS story.

| Originally posted by Dark_Archonis I disagree not only with the government and the media centering on europeans being deported, but also with this mass deportation without notice. The Liberals were going to grant status to some of these people, and I think that would have been a better idea. At the very least, the Conservatives should have looked at what sort of benefit these individuals are providing to the economy or to society, and if they were providing a high benefit, then they should have been given a chance for status here. |

I am a STRONG believer in that there should be a case by case analysis in the deportation process... MANY of the people who come to our country(yes,i say our country, because i was raised here, and woulndt want to live anywhere else) illegally, are some of the leading minds behind major project, and other things that excell our country and allow us to call ourselves a multicultural society... |

Someone being here illegally, may only mean that they have "no status" because the fukin gov'n makes them pay tens of thousands of dollars to plead why they should be here, makes them wait many years (my bf is currently at 5 yrs) to decide whether or not u can stay, during this time u build a life, a home, a job, friends, all valuble aspects of life...and then they tell u u have 2 wks to leave??? Tell me WUT THE FUK DO U DO THEN??? You have no life back at the country u came from, you havent been able to save much money with the lawyer fees, mortgages, and day to day expenses so pretty much the last 5 or so years, have been a waste of time and money. A majority of "these people" don't come here to sit on their asses and live off of our taxes. They come here to get ahead in life, to work hard, support their children and be able to make a good living, because as hard as you work in MANY European countries, it is IMPOSSIBLE to get ahead in life. We shouldn't be throwing these people out, we should be thanking them for helping to build one of the most multi-culturally educated countries in the world. |
