So...how much did you spend on Miami WMC 2006?

Now that WMC is winding down to the last day or so, how much did you guys spend on WMC? This includes flight, hotel, food, events. Exclude shopping. Gotta plan for WMC '07

gosh...ouch.

$240 flight
$340 4 nights hotel
Shows:
$80 Ultra ticket (mistake)
$40 Space ticket (armin/schulz/mauro) well worth it
$25 James Holden excellent
$10 D Fuse Scumfrog (bargain)

Drinks--$40 per night.

Food--$30 per day

Taxis--$100 ($25 to/from SoBe to Miami)

Shuttle to/from Fort Lauderdale $40 (I should have flown into Miami--faster & quicker)

Parking my car in Austin--$30

I don't even want to add it up...ouch.

Seems the flight price was around the $200 range. I think most of my friends took AA. Not bad.

i got up to $2800 and i quit counting. Honestly, i don't want to know. It's bad when the ATM tells you that you reached your daily alloted limit for the day....and it's only 5 AM. The first thing i did every morning after walking out the hotel room was pull $200. did that a few times through out the day.

Mike, I'm assuming you want to know for next year's prep. I didn't go this year, but last year, I split a room with Christina, and I'd guess we spent about $1000-1500 each between Tuesday night arrival (and Meganite that night) and Sunday departure. We didn't go out to a big party every night (skipped Wednesday AND Thursday NIGHT at big parties, not pool parties during the day and not EVERYTHING those nights) because we didn't have pre-sold tix and weren't paying $50-80+ for events that we weren't sold enough on in advance to buy. We also didn't buy any supplements down there, though I'm not sure if that's a consideration for you. You do know us and how we drink, so you can also factor that in. Most places had expensive drinks, so we split a case of Red Bull and 2 handles of Stoli pre-partying.

Bottom line, save and go next year, but plan ahead and use your industry connections for comps and other VIP perks. Hell, it's a year away, try to get gigs opening for guys you know from NYC and write the whole trip off on taxes, plus get lots of freebies.

$1000-1500 was gonna be my range to save up for. Getting gigs. Will be interesting. Who knows. Getting a record released with a friend. Maybe I might be popular enough by then to get a gig

i went last year, booked early (in late november/early december) and i think spent about $900 total including airfare from baltimore, hotel for 4 nights, tickets, shopping, and "other" things...so it wasn't too bad. stayed in south beach and had a great time.

hopefully i can go next year!

Posted by mopa on Mar-28-2006 07:24:

This year was great, and it sure was worth the price. This year the cost was around $2600 for my girl and I. The thing that pissed me off was the resturants, because they charge 27% in taxes. It is 9% for Southbeach Taxes and on top of that, all the resturants add on top of the prices a 18% gratuity tax. I met a lot of cool ass people in Miami and these 3 people came with my girl and I.

All five of us at a sandwich, and had 1 drink.

5 Sandwiches & 5 Drinks = $149.00?

(4 Burgers, 1 Cuban) ( 1 Black Russian, 1 Vodka, 3 Mixed Drinks)

Good advice for anyone who plans on going next year.

Buy a badge, Get your friends to save up money, and run a hotel together, rent a car if possible (fill up on water, and food) and you will do just fine. This year badge holders were able to get into most major events at the local clubs for free. If you went to about 6 events, the badge pays for its self.

You still read it...

Edit: Also, I find it hilarious that people think it takes effort to write out a detailed review of an event, or even a moderately long post...

And this:

just something to think about for people who are going next year... we booked at the end of December instead of waiting until this year to book our trip, which i think saved us a LOT of money. when i checked hotel/airfare prices 2 weeks into January, they had jumped quite a bit... so if you want to book cheap, book it as early as you can!!

Posted by liquiddawn on Mar-28-2006 17:32:

$3500 easy
