Legend of Zelda: Original for NES

I found my old NES in a box of stuff like 3 weeks ago and the only game I found was Legend Of Zelda. I just passed the second quest to the game, and wow I actually found it a little more challenging then the newer releases.

So, anyone else love this game as much as me?

doesn't the battery die on those old cartridges?

no way! I still have my Nintendo, and I still play Zelda 2, The Adventures of Link, Lifeforce, Mario and all those games.

You should switch to the best zelda, the only one w/ side scrolling. Zelda 2.

I actually bought that for my gameboy .... i really liked it actually, tough challenges really pushed your noggin. and this was way back in the 80s when we didn't have www.gamefaqs.com to help us whenever we had a problem, you would have to wait for the newest issue of Nintendo Power to get clues....

First Zelda, and SNES Zelda (A link to the past) are the best IMO. Ocarina of time is really fun too, but it is not challenging at all compared to the others. Never a fan of zelda 2, and the GC was good, but it was really aimed at younger players, barely a challenge at all. You dont have an owl, a fairie or a boat telling you what to do in the older zeldas.
btw, once you finish the nes zelda, you get an "access" code to a second harder version of the game. All the dungeons are in a different place (i.e. if i remember right dungeon 6 is where dungeon 1 is, but that one is like the only repeat) as well as the sellers and stuff. Nice replay value.

you can set your name as Zelda and you can automatically start the second quest.

hahaha holy shit porky you just brought back some memories of me and my friends tearing through those magazines looking for help.

We did that for Zelda 2 and for Castlevania, another great side scrolling series. "What a terrible night to have a curse"

Nothing compares to A Link to the Past for the SNES. Somehow, I always got stuck in the dark world and never totally passed the game. Pity.

I never had a super nintendo, but I think i might buy one off of Ebay. I love playing my sega and regular nintendo, plus the state of PA has forbidden me to drink alcohol for the summer, and I need a bullshit hobby to pass the time.

I just wish you could save your game on more of these games. I remember pausing super mario brothers or sonic for days on end.

Hell yeah dude, but it was the original Castlevania I have never been able to beat. That game is absurdly hard.

Another game that I could never beat was Gunsmoke, the 8 bit equivilant of Sunset Riders which I was able to beat.
