Hardcore Is Terrible

I just got completely crushed on another forum after opening a reviewpage for my trance track. Later on I realised that it was a forum for little kidds who are into hardcore.

Please, help me. I need some moral support. Answer this question for me;

Is hardcore terrible?

Posted by JustinMead on Mar-29-2006 14:00:

What exactly do you mean by terrible? Terrible as in how or why?

im clueless

Justin

My hardcore track

Hardcore isn't terrible in my opinion but remember that there are different styles of hardcore. The hardcore I hear on MOHradio is really terrible, its just *boom-boom-boom*. I like the better sounding hardcore, with powerful melodies and hard kicks, it just has to be melodic. And, many people think hardcore is easy music, but try make some good agressive hardcore yourself..

hahahaha partyflock is ook troep, je moet forum.clubcharts.nl hebben dat zijn tenminste mensen met kennis van de zaken :P

It's nice to see such open minded people here.
The same people who whine every time someone bashes trance keep bashing everything they don't like.

Of course you're going to get slated if you post trance to a hardcore site, what did you expect?

hardcore was one of my fav genre's. you all are just jealous

I don't like happy hardcore. It seems like such a novelty. I don't see how anyone can listen to it for more than a few minutes. Then again, I enjoy speed metal, thrash, death metal, and all that. To me, happy hardcore is the "speed metal" of EDM. So I try to look at it that way. To each his own. A lot of people think the metal I listen to is crap, so I sure don't want to go around calling other music styles "horrible".

I don't want to generalize, but a faction of the happy hardcore, breaks, DnB community, ect, hate trance, and will slam it any chance they can. They get so upset though if you tell them you don't like their style of music.

Well anyways, how did you end up on a happy hardcore forum and not know it??? It's really not a good idea to put your music up for review in a public forum. It's just a bad idea in general, you see what it did to your moral. You want your music judged by qualified, unbiased ears, not a bunch of strangers whom you know nothing about.

You people think that Trance is the most energetic form of GOOD electronic dance music out there? Think again...UK HArdcore could qualify as one of the most high-paced uplifting stuff out there. UK Hardcore compilations have been continuously put into the top 10 UK music compilations for the past 2 years now. Please see for yourself.

Example Clips below:

Through the Darkness
Make Some Noise
Airwave
All My Life
Shining Thru

(Happy)Hardcore ain't for "kids" anymore, sorry folks. Ofcourse the new stuff has adpoted traditionally trancy sounds, but (happy)hardcore producers still remain just as innovative as trance producers. Oh, and you can probably tell I like hardcore, but I use information gained from this site to produce music very similar to what's above. I'm not putting down trance, I'm just saying that (Happy)Hardcore has changed and should therefore be taken for what it is now, not what it used to be.

I like Happy Hardcore more than Hardcore cause happy hardcore has a tongue in cheek, self aware of its sillyness thing going on. Hardcore actually tries to be.. hardcore.. but its not its just as silly :P

well said starRizer.
uk hardcore has changed so much over the last 5 years.

i still think its past its sell by date. by using trance songs SUCH AS AIRWAVE and firing them upto 170 BPM isnt a style. stealing trance to make hardcore. whats that make it hardcore trance. how do you generalise it?

im all for different styles and different music cultures but i think it should be put to rest. its past it.

I agree - hardcore is turd.

I had no idea what it was until recently i downloaded a load of it, it was called Masters of Hardcore - loads of them. I listened to a few and they were terrible. So so so terrible.

Up until then I had never deleted an mp3.......but after that I deleted them all!!

I like happy hardcore, especially the more trancey stuff, they nick a lot of trance chord progressions/melodies so some of its pretty familiar. Bonkers Revolution(11) is the best.

Cool

Like I've said before. Hardcore is just like junk-heavy metal. In small doses it's really great.

I listen to trance, or breaks, or IDM, but when I feel like some loud, annoying fasted paced angry music. I listen to some Omar Santana!

But of course you trance track got ripped on in a hardcore forum! What did you expect man? Most hardcore "kids" (ie the 15-17 range), like most children get into a mind-set where ALL they listen to is one genre, and if you don't agree that it's good, then you go to hell!

Just one of those things I guess.

It just sounds bad to me. I'm not sure who can sit and listen to a hardcore track without having ingested amphetamines.
