First of all it's:

Barber's "Adagio for Strings" (DJ Tiesto Remix/Danjo & Styles Rework)

And in my opinion, it isn't all that strong.

Ferry remix is the winner.

Edited so as not to be a total dick.

This topic has been done to death. Ferry Corsten's remix is the best, Tiesto's is not. And if vocals are your thing, either the Brainbug or Perfecto remixes of Skip Raiders - Another Day are wonderful but often overlooked alternatives.

Do some fecking research. It was composed by Samuel Barber in the 1930s, and William Orbit covered it for his 1999 album Pieces in a Modern Style, and it was Orbit's version that saw the first trance remixes.

I think the original tops them all. There is no original recording as it's classical, but I like it on strings the most, even though the choral version is ace too. The trance mixes are far too heavy handed.

original Samuel's

ferrys mix is the best released one.

above and beyond remixed this and added some nice strokes to the ferry mix, and made it even better, this has never been released but was played on trance around the world year 2005 somewhere, blev my mind!

Ferry's Remix is classic, but as far as the remixes of Tiesto's interpretation, i'de say the Phynn Remix.

Anyone that says Ferry Corsten's interpretation of THAT piece of classical music isnt the definitive version is crazy imo

Why? Sure it was way OTT but that's the way that the styles dictated at that time. If he remade it now he'd probably add the current sounds he's using, I don't see why there's so much hate for a track that is not only loved by many trance fans but is identifiable by my friends who know nothing about trance.

personally nothing beats this one (from this CD)...

Adagio for strings (or string quartet; arr. from 2nd mvt. of String Quartet), Op. 11
Composed by Samuel Barber
Performed by Boston Symphony Orchestra
Conducted by Charles Munch

the remixes are all just so cheesetastic.
