Listen man, you have the worst piece of mixer ever made, and its not really made for dj's, in my college they have one at every classroom from the exact mixer you have, im not sure wut the school use them for, but i know its not for a dj to use. if you can afford those cd players then you could afford a better mixer, trust me in this, buy a new mixer, maybe one with effects, play around with it and youll change your mind. but please put your mixer in a garbage, dont even try to sell it.

on the other hand, a lot of people here would be happy to purchase your stuff, including me. Holla

dont give up, get a better mixer. spend time with it like you would with a woman.

Posted by Shemeck on Mar-31-2006 00:56:

that mixer its from my old setup. im going to get something better next friday (numark dm06)
i pretty much know how to beatmatch, but i still need to practice.
i always wanted to do it but when i got my real setup i started having doubts, maybe its because i have really crappy mixer

Posted by punjabi on Mar-31-2006 02:12:

whatever you do, don't just give up.

Posted by f0s_man on Mar-31-2006 02:36:

Don't give up...
I've got 2 SL-1200MK...TTs, i practice whenever i have time, i hope to play for some parties down the road, but being in a state where kids only listen to stupid music...not much of an opportunity...

ANYWAY.....my word to you is DON'T GIVE UP....keep working at it... it takes time fer sure, i can hear the improvement with each passing mix... someday your day will come too....

**I still need more practice...i can't seem to mix tracks that don't start with a bassline...grRRrrR

Posted by stefanoc on Mar-31-2006 05:07:

i dont suggest you give up at all. maybe you have to but i dont suggest that.

everyone gets to the certain time in their life when they feel hopeless and feel down about what they do. i hated djing when i adjusted my gear to the cdj200 just cause it was so annoying to play around with the joggle and get it perfectly beatmatching.

when you get used to the stuff you use and do and notice improvement, thats when you feel like playing more. if you dont feel like playing after all that then it means you arent that into it. the hardest part for me now is to find tracks i like and keep up with the music and i think thats really impossible if you arent fully committed to it.

Yeah thats why I switched to CDJs, dang I have hundreds of dollars worth of vinyl gone to waste now , but many of them are collectors items. I bet 10 years down the road they will be Nostalgia, like early trance is nowadays. I might eventually get a cheapy TT to play them on though..

Posted by simms327 on Mar-31-2006 05:49:

i have two CDJ-800 mk1s, and seeing those metal buttons makes me want to wet my pants.

i want cdj-800 mk2s.....

thats hot

but get a better mixer, even a behringer is better than that....

Well...hopefully i'll be able to have both CDJs & my TTs.... somebody... someday.... anybody foresee a price drop in Pioneer CDJ-800s anytime soon??

..oh yeah, dude with the not so good mixer.. you can go check out guitar center/musicians friend...sometimes they get 2nd hand mixers fer cheap..good ones too... i saw a DJM-500 for $450.... no visible damage...who knows eh?

When i first saw someone spin i was like WOW , i want to be able to make the people go crazy! So i looked through all the stores to for dj equipment decided that im not paying that much, a year later i have the money but there is this feeling in me that i wont be able to do good at all or that i will just quit! Then i began to mess with some computer mixing and stuff and i sayed hold up am not half bad! So i had decided to save some more moneyfor even better cdj's, and a mxer instead of asking my parents for money! JUST DO NOT QUIT, like i almost did!!!!

Youre a fucking retard.

Why hasn't anyone else said it yet?

Posted by ZeJayMan on Apr-03-2006 14:15:

I've been saving for high quality equipment for three years now, got my perfect monitors, perfect laptop, perfect amplifier, perfect headphones, all my djing furniture that i'll need, Ableton live 5, getting my perfect Midi controller next week. It will be another year at least before i've got the exact mixer I want plus i'm still savng for my CD players. Then after that i'm going to have to save some more to soundproof my garage which isn't cheap. I have to find money to help pay the rent and all my bills, plus a social life at university.

If you haven't got any ambition, just give up. Seriously. And do it now, those players will depreciate in value as time goes by.
Even though i've not got all the gear I want yet, i've been learning new skills every week on friends equipment, playing out at parties, mixing on the computer, finding new tracks every day, testing out every possiblility on the CD players and mixer i want just to make sure it's completely perfect for me.

If you havent got the commitment and ambition, just give up right now.

If you think you have got the commitment, you wouldn't bother posting on here asking our opinion on the matter. You would be practicing mixing until your arms start hurting. Then some more.

J

But i do agree that he was abit stupid spending that kind of money on something that he was never really sure about should of looked into it abit more and give it abit more thought.

thats why I love internet, you can say whatever with no conswquences.
anyway i do not regret that i got them. i was having doubts because i didnt have any new music but i went to beatport and now im having fun. and on friday i have a gig in a culture club
and yes i have been doing this for a while, before that i had some gemini TT (they sucked, really) but it gave me a feel what is like. and after that i was running everything from traktor but it is time for something more professional. and my new mixer is arriving this friday.]
good luck.
and mostly i post here from my school because my schedule is really busy (full time student, full time worker, and i still go out, and now im adding djing to it) so i consider myself a busy person

Don't get TOO excited Those "metal" buttons are the same as what I have on my CDJ-1000 MK2's, and they aren't "metal" at all. Just silver plastic!

Do the 800s have the "WAVE display' feature? You know, the one the 1000s have that display quiet parts of tracks. I want to add an 800 to my set up, or maybe a 1000....but damn, that will hurt my pocket.

Posted by Psiweaver on Apr-15-2006 01:03:

yeah i wanna add a cdj too.
