paul van dyk - nothing but you kick?
Anyone know what effect pvd uses on his kick in nothing but you. it sounds like a phaser but when i tried it it sounded shit. if anyone knows how to do this let me no.
cheers
kane
my guess: he put some percussion sound on top of the kick and phased only that part
for sure: you need to phaser-fx only the high end parts of the kick (ever tried phasing an entire kick
)
ps could also be a flanger, who knows
Yeah effects one bassdrums often sounds terrible, but when done right sounds awesome!
BT adds very short ping pong delay to kicks, works so well. It's not for a 4x4 rythm though cause it would sound dog poo then!
Thios suggestion is most prolly correct...
Flange or Phase a hi hat or loop over a kick, not the actual kick!
Also a sample may help.

You can always send a highpassed kick through a second mixer track, phase that while cutting the dry, then recombining them.
Or, if you layer your kicks, you can mix them separately before mixing them together.
cheers ill have a look at a few of the ideas you suggested.
I also put a delay on my kicks.
It gives your kicks extra power... but only when used right
