dj headphones
anybody know what make of headphones the top djs go for?
they must be good with all the wear and tear they are subject to on world tours
Most of them use Sony's. But there is also Sennheiser, Pioneer among other brands.

It really all comes down to personal preference. Sure, most of the "top" dj's may use Sony's but maybe Pioneers would sound better for you. Just go into a local music store and test a bunch out and see which ones suit you the best.

my sony headphones are superb. have lasted me nearly two years.
Ive had a pair of Koss that have lasted over 6 years. Ive had a few pairs that costed more but Id break them within a year. They arent the best but they dont suck.
They have all the features that appeal to me. Coiled cord, so Im not tripping over it. Adjustable volume in each ear so I can adjust to my comfort no matter the location of where Im spinning and speaker layout.
The sturdiest part is the metal to metal connection of the speakers and the headband. Thats where my others broke all the time. I can go to sleep with them on and not wake up with my headphones in pieces.
love the pioneers, seems like the bass is a lot nicer than on the sonys
i've got my Pioneers as well, i really love it but after using them for bit they start to get uncomfortable!
There are two Sony's most people use for DJing. The absolute crap 700's, and the really fucking good 7506/V6.

stantons
awesome
sonys fell apart quickly, shit!
stantons sound better, feel better (huge ear hole), last longer, and are way cheaper.
stantons!
at the moment i use pioneer hdj 1000s, but i wouldnt reccommend them. the sound is pretty good, but ive had headphones which are alot more crisp sounding in the past. The problem ive had with these pioneers is that they are actually quite tacky and plasticy.. my left earphone was twisted slightly too far in one direction, which meant that the little plastic stud which was supposed to PREVENT them from breaking, actually prized the joint apart and snapped it. its not a huge problem, ive just stuck it back together.. but these are 140 dj headphones, u would expect that they would last a bit longer than a few months, its not like i was viscious with them. i say the simpler the better, itll be senheiser or sony for me next time.

| Originally posted by Clovis86 lol yeah, but like you said, up close they're plastic as shit ![]() I'd be cool if I was like zabs and I could get new ones after each gig, but for now I'm poor and I need something that lasts. Oh fuck it... love my Sony's anyway...best cans ever. |
Sony MDR-V6
Sound great, very comfortable, sturdy little mofos (simpler = less stuff to break), cheap
Cons - No swivel (I don't use swivels anyway so no biggie for me)
Used by Sasha, PvD, Digweed (I think)
