Own a PoCo myself but looking at your setup I would definetly recommend getting UAD for the following reason http://powercore.noheaven.com/viewtopic.php?t=1269

np m8

suppose you could always get a PoCo l8r on when after they sort that stuff out, as I see a lot of peeps using both (PoCo for its reverbs and UAD for everything else)

PoCo Firewire interface solves both issues.. Same price too..

from what I understand the effects on the UAD are a tad better than the powercores, but the powercore has more support for snths etc. (virus, v-station etc) so your choice should basicly be made on what you need the most

yeah true i wanted to go for the virus plugin aswell but i may just wait untill they sort the support out and get uad at a later stage. Iv'e also been told you need at least 2 uad-1's running to get the most out of the plugins.

sry my bad, the firewire version of PoCo looks awesome. It even comes with a 1u rack unless you get the compact one, that looks cool too, can even take it out for a walk with your laptop

hey, im not to sure here, but theres a tdm version of virus indigo would that work with uad1 ? http://www.accessmusic.de/products....oduct=indigotdm

Nope, sorry. That's for Pro Tools TDM rigs only. Ie Mix class or better.

The UAD1 is basically a modified graphics card with no video out. The chip is a GPU, which when you think about it makes it good for audio too. It's a very closed platform, but it's got a lot of cool toys for it.

The PoCo uses similar DSP chips to PT and that is why many plugs are available for both. Essentially the code is practically the same,it's just the API that is a little different.

Both are essentially hardware dongles these days as a modern CPU beats the crap out of either of them.

They both sound great though. Get one of each!
