York rapist is out, ladies beware

and yeah, they were interviewing girls on campus yesterday and today and showing his pics

you should all really consider learning a little bit of basic brazilian jiu-jitsu.
I've gone and taught to sororities and voluntered in rape prevention clinics. I know the first thing is to try and aviod the situation and you should always be mindful of your surroundings but I first got into martial arts after I learned the hard way that you can't always avoid trouble when it is looking for you. There are a few Brazilian jiu-jitsu places around the GTA and what you learn in one month will give you a shit load of extra confidence to fend off and larger attackers when you get stuck in a compromising position on the ground. Having someone between your legs in Brazilian jiu-jitsu is a very dangerous spot for them to be since you can very easily and quickly break their arms and choke them out to the point of unconsiousness without giving any warning to them what so ever. FOr any females concerned for their safety in this regard I highly recomend taking a month of classes somewhere. I've trainned in about a dozen martial arts and have never seen anything as effective as this for rape prevention in any other system.

edit: That said I hope this scum bag stays clean now that he's out.

that's the thing - read the link, he's out for good, as in he served his sentence, but is still regarded a risk, even though they r watching him closely and all

and yeah, self-defence classes sounds like a good idea, i'll look into it during the summer

yeah even though he's done his time I still think he should have his arms broken for the first round.

I like the learning Brazilian jijitsu idea! Here's a tip to my fellow females if you are ever walking alone at night: Try not to wear footwear such as high heels that would cause you not to be able to run very fast if you had to get away from an attacker. I heard this on TV one night from a woman that specialized in profiling sexual offenders.

I'm sure they can follow him while waiting for the other police to make sure he doesn't do anything. As soon as he behaves illegally then they could rush in and prevent that. You should be safe on campus. Besides, maybe now that he knows how it feels from being in prison maybe he won't do it anymore. *keeping my fingers crossed for all you*

however I heard that they can't do much except for talking, and let's say he starts running away, having done something wrong, they can't go after him

That's true, but then again that applies to most trespassers. You can't use force against a trespasser, nor arrest one, unless it's reasonable to do so (for example: self-defence or defence of others). Basically he has to actually commit a crime before he can be touched.

What the Ontario government should do is replace the York security guards and create a "York University Division" of the Toronto Police Service.

As a practical matter, I doubt the little $h!t would attack someone being escorted by York Security (they have that night service).

anyway ,,, what i dont understand is that,, how was his prison sentance only 5 years? why are they lettin ghim out if he is still considered to be dangerous? shouldnt they keep those assholes in prison for longer, or untill they show some kind of rehabilitation or something?

he's currently 23 years old.

23-5 = 18. probably got off/ squeeked in as a young offender.

i'm surprised it was only 5 years, since he was using a knife as well..

i think courts should only release rapists if they are relocated away from the city. somewhere north of sarnia or something like that.

or throw them all in a hut in a forest in the middle of nowhere.
let them rape each other.
