Unhappy Damn you cue button!

I was like 30 mins into recording a set and had just started to beatmatch a track when I moved my hand from my mixer to the right cdj and my finger hit the cue, effectively ruining it. I feel like getting vinyl now.

Hahhha.

Damn thats happened to me a few times (cue button)...or ejecting the wrong CD...eh...its a bitch.

Like they said. Same shit happens with vinyl or any other medium.

I just accidently pressed "play" while almost finishing a set, I just edited the track to make it less obvious

sux but it happens.

I keep the crossfader in the middle and use the up and down faders. Every once and a while Ill knock the crossfader with my hand or headphone chord.

I have experienced the cue button pain in the ass with the switch to CDJ's.. Part of the process..

And with serato, loading the song onto the wrong deck!! lol

Plus we have to deal with needle skipping as well! I usually just have a we peek at the mixer if i'm not 100% sure.. Obviously.

nelly

Only thing that's happened to me has been ejecting the CD a couple of times.

Posted by stefanoc on Apr-06-2006 04:44:

how about when the cd skips when youre trying to beatmatch? or accidently move the tempo when youre trying to do something on the mixer?

wow i just realized a solution: have mixer and cd player away from each other.

Yeah really, Im thinking about getting a stand for the cdjs now cause Ive done this a few times.

why dont they make a "hold" button like on walkmans

Posted by DarkFall01 on Apr-06-2006 05:37:

Yeah, pushing the play/pause button or the cue button by mistake is a bitch, taking out the wrong CD is worse, I bet it has happened to most of us though. I'm way too careful about that now, hasn't happened in a while. Now sometimes I mess up when turning on the EFX500 and all of a sudden there's no sound for 1 bar

Posted by stefanoc on Apr-06-2006 05:46:

all of these happened to me, but you learn from the mistakes. now i think twice before ejecting any cds.

another thing i hate is when the damn tempo adjusts by itself from 1.10 to 1.12 or 1.15

im sure that happens to everyone, and when you try to set it back to the speed you want you accidently drop it too much.

The way you sort channel can be a good thing too, one time i had cd on the first channel but cd player was on my right, the second channel was vinyl on my left: previous dj let me continue after his cd, so i put the vinyl on my left, doing my stuff, and the damn habits, i put off the left channel, i get off vinyl on my left. I took the cartridge then 105db -> ~ 70db , you really felt oddly when sound cut off and people look you with some big red eyes ...

i hate when you use the cd start function on a mixer and when you cut the crossfader for a brief moment of silence and then bring it back the song starts from the begining. It was so bad when it happened while playing live that i never use that feature anymore. I also hate when my needle is skipping on a brand new record and right at the first down beat.it makes it impossible to start the record up but at least i don't have to worry about my cd's skipping cause thats so embarrassing and happened too many times.

I have that on my mixer (djm-707) and I guess thats a big feature for scratchers/turntablists. I have yet to find a use for it and probably never will.

I hate it when I press stop on the wrong track.

Posted by SVGmethod on Apr-08-2006 08:16:

i hate when i get brand new vinyl that are warped...i hate when i go to nudge the record to slow it down a bit and the damn thing stops or spins uncontrollably in reverse. wtf.

when i used to have a pioneer cdj1000mk2...i used to do that trick where you put it on master tempo and then you move the pitch slider nearly to the end so you get this stutter sounding thing...but go too far and the music stops. Judge Jules did this during Adagio for Strings at Monster Massive in LA in 2004. pretty embarassing.

Why don't you just set it up like [CDJ] [CDJ] [MIXER] rather than [CDJ][MIXER][CDJ]

Why don't you use the "vinyl scroll" feature thats on the records?, its a great feature, I always use it so I don't have to touch the computer or mouse, that way you can never load up a track on the wrong side.
