Why don't you compete in the ID contests?
ok so we're trying to figure out what could be done to get a larger participation / make things more fun for everyone...
if you don't enter the ID contests...why not? and if it's something you would like to do, but don't...what would improve things?
discuss...
Hard drive space...
I dont feel like downloading music samples.
Plus Trance Id's arent my strong suit. All other genres yes, but my Trance is out of date.Plus if you win you have to run the next contest...le hassle

i actually thought about participating this current one, but it kinda puts you off when you see the results so far so soon and sand leaper is leading so much that no one will ever catch him. and i'm really fucking busy atm too, but maybe i will participate, if i can find the time.

just wondering, is there much cheating involved in the contests? i mean of two people cooperate and help eachother out. is this common?

| Originally posted by skip well i know i will never win, so it's not that really. it's just somehow lame IMO that the first time the pre results are posted is so soon. IMO it should go to at least half way before posting those. |

I pwn minimal and tech ftwwwwwwwwwwww |
One thing I think.
Fair dos to Jan for winning it all the time, but how many has he made now? 6 or 7?
Time for him to step down and stop winning, I reckon. Or at least say 'the person below me can do the next comp'.

Well, SandLeaper has passed on some contests to give a chance for others to win.
And about the cheating, I doubt it happens very often. I think the host of the competition would figure it out anyway...
Maybe the scoreboard should only be updated once or twice a week to keep the suspension...

Yeah its a good idea in theory, and would be fairer, but imagine trying to get 3 or 4 people to all submit IDs at a certain time to the organiser. It just wouldnt happen
At least with one person controlling the contest like it is now, everything is done under their terms. They put it up when they're ready. No waiting weeks for the one fool to give the controlling person their 10 IDs.
Course there'd also be the problem of correcting. Who corrects the samples? The overall winner or the person who submitted the 10 IDs? If its the latter, then the overall winner has to send about 5 PMs for every 1 he receives, just to make sure everyone has the samples. Having one person correcting would be easier, but then the other people would fight, as THEY'D want to correct their own genre.
Tis a good idea, but knowing people in general and knowing this place for a few years, I'd say it would be far too much trouble
Perhaps we could try genre-specific ID comps tho. Like having a Trance competition and a Main competition. Then the next month having a Psy competition and a Main competition. Just to keep things different. It would be harder to organise, but might work.
The only other thing I can think up off the top of my head is timing. I think a month is too long. Two weeks would be ok. Face it, everyone downloads the samples straight away and works on them. Then they come back to them 2 days before the comp ends. Cutting down to 2 weeks would be better I reckon.
Just a few thoughts
Or another idea could be to post the scoreboard, but keep the top 3 and their scores hidden. That way people would know what they need to do, without being overly worried about not having a chance.
yeah i agree probably too hard to organize hehehe
but maybe some kind of genre-specific comp sometime i dunno...
...or DJ specific. Do an Armin ID comp, with about 30 tracks that Armin has played. Then do a PvD one. something like that.
Then there'd be no more fights about genres

True... I guess the current format is pretty ok, I just wish people would stop moaning so much about why they're not doing well
I still reckon a month is too long. 2 weeks would be ok. Maybe 2 weeks of comp then 2 weeks off.
Also, dont show the top 3 or 5 on the scoreboard. Let those people know by PM though. But dont tell anyone else.
