far more kicking now.

like the dark feel to it. sorry takkra but i think this remix is better than the original.

you've expanded your surround sound which shows and you aren't relying on the percs to push the track.

pad is nice the way it sits in the background. breakdown is awesome love the bass synth.

you've turned a track which isn't yours into yours.

good work mate, very original richard gale work here.

thankx barry

however i have to say that i have only used two parts that were not in the original. and this is the pad. and the bass synth at the beginning.

everything else is takkras samples but with some eq and effects on them.

i have to say that this is more of a re arrange with some tweeking here and there.. and most of the credit should go to takkra for his awsome original. - ps. i didnt do any eq or efx to your piano. apart from timestretch here and there..

all i hope is that takkra loves it as much as i enjoyed playing with his track!

cheers mate

Hey,
commenting as I listen.
strange intro, I dont really like that ringmod sound.
Kick is very nice.
Heavy bass, maybe a little lower and less distorted would sound nice.
Percussion is detailed, I like it. The closed hihat is not so good though, seems a little thin.
2:16 - nice deep synth. Again I think it would profit if there was less intereference with the bass.
3:00 - nice breakdown, came a little unexpected. Maybe again getting a little heavy in the low end here.
4:00 - nice melodies with good strings. I like the atmosphere here.
I like the small break a lot. Nice piano, too bad its so hardly audible.

Good atmosphere and melodies in this track. A little better leveling would be nice. Keep it up

Love that big kick rich, and that bassline is great..nice percussions coming in - like the hats and the droning sound..like the pads at the breakdown - reminds me of that man MIKE again with his 'gift' alias hehe...really like the pianos coming in near the end...i feel you should let those pads take off and go much louder for a climax..

more good stuff from you mate!

i dont like that "hissing" Going on dude... it doesnt sound to.. jolly to my ears .

the bassline sounds like its "laggin" to me , though i like the rolling sub one .

i like all the strings you have in hear really a nice effect!

hmm after that nice break it seems to take a while for the melody to get going, thats a shame.
now the bass doesnt seem to be "laggin" anymore.. must have been a brain ghost .
i dont like that you dont use the melody while the kick is going but you worked around it well!

Posted by Majutsu on Apr-08-2006 19:03:

everyone seems to like this more, but i don't
The kick is just too strong. The floggy kick overshadows any melodic variation. Also the wavetable type bass is too distinctive to stay fresh.
The pad is nice and drifty at 3:57.
I think at 4:17 i start to hear the dark, rumbly cannon-canyon thing you are probably going for. But that's going to be hard to hit without sounding muddy . . .
You can do it! But I don't think you quite nailed it yet.
I like the dancing, scattered percussion and hats.
Some of the levels here are uneven though.

Hey!!

Nice techy beginning, the beat is pretty fat!! The bass is cool also... Really nice chord progression at 2:30, sounds promising... The bassline is groovy. You could still try to write a strong main melody on top of all, and it would be really good!!! Nothing to complain, a really nice remix!!

Cheers, Lakeus

Heres the other rmx that im working on.

Heh, weird thing in the intro.

Bass doesn't seem driving enough, IMO.

When the melody comes in, it's pretty nifty, even if the break is a bit sudden.

The low end starts getting really muddy with the echoey drum thing.

thanks guys

i agree about it being a shame the melody isnt used in the main part. and i think the piano could be turned up a bit.. thanks for the good and bad points guys

maybe the man behind the original could say what he thinks?

any more?

Hey Rich!

Really nice remix you've got here!
This is different from your previous work, and it's great!
Love the drive, this would make me jump high at the dancefloor.

I like the intro, builds up nicely.
Still love what you did to those rolling break percs from the original.
I like the way you make the turn at ~3mins! And the break is great.

The mixdown seems very bassheavy and loud in my headphones...
The piano could definitly need a volume raise.
The piano sounds alot better now, when its clean from distortion, and i'm glad you used the whole original piano part.

I'd love to see more like this from you in the future

//Alex

yoo rich im @ school now:9 ive gotta study one more day and then ill review the track !!!

Richie

My first thought was that it is clipping , im not sure, the bass seems very heavy. It's your style alright though, its very cool. I like the breakdown, the melody is excellent. I think it should have been introduced throughout the song more. The piano is nice, perhaps it could be used more too.
Overall a nice track, but still I think your last techno track was your best.

Posted by richg101 on Apr-11-2006 19:51:

thanks guys

ricky- the mp3 does clip. i rendered it far too loud - i have sorted the final out and its a lot cleaner.. - glad you still like 'manhunt'

i was balancing seeing my girlfriend and making this rmx for mr takkra.. so both missed out on my full attention while i was doing this.. i need to do a better master job i think..

played this on sat night and it worked the dancefloor a treat! but i had to boost the mid and high on the mixer by 6db!

cheers guys

listening:

woow, awesome kick.. im digging the wooden perc thingy, lovely.. bass is nice too.. the synth at 2:20 is great.. i love the melodies and stuff..

great production, but i feel its going nowhere.. there no real main part.. i was expecting everything to just kick in.. but could be u intended it to be this way.. good production nevertheless..

Posted by Four_On_Four-er on Apr-12-2006 17:25:

Impressive, mate. Again, we see a Rich style bassline that's basically a resonant hum than a bassline from the get go. I like the subtle bassline after the hum one is finished, as the gated effect returns with the original.

The rolling percussive elements do wonders to the track's energy and vibe.

I'm very impressed with the subtleties of your mixing nowdays. You seem to have improved lightyears since I first heard you.

The bandpass synth/bass is great. Very phat, and I like what you did with it during the breakdown.

IMO, 3:30 was the main part of the song, I don't know what everyone else is talking about!

The kick is perfect, man... it's good to these ears.

Awesome track. (Great use of ring modulation by the way)

I absolutely love the sound (melody-ish-thing) that comes a few minutes into the track. Mind if I ask how you did it?

Posted by richg101 on Apr-12-2006 18:06:

thanks guys

i was quite proud of the kick - my comp use is getting more efficient now. it stood up to most of the commercially released tracks i played along with this on my set on sat.

my style is now very progressive so doesnt really go anywhere. but takkras awsome samples he sent really build the drive this has.

i am happy with what i did bandpass wise with takkras main bass synth. i used the sample twice, with one doing mid high and chopped around and the other doing the bazz

four on four er - glad you liked it and saw the main section!

what does the takkra think?

Posted by Takkra on Apr-12-2006 21:04:

myeahhss...

im terribly sorry for reviewing you so late.. but ive had such a hard time at school and oh god ... I just dont want to know..

Anyway. Ill review after the 54th(!) listen..
I love the techno'ish oink in the beginning, really great kick. that dark pad is soo nice. you made really good use of the percs !!!
great fx's coming in.. nice to hear the bass rolling in hehe ! youve cleaned everything good .. I wish I could do that hehe..
very nice and driving !! im now @ 2:00.. arrangement is done very well! the chopped up bass is just wow you already knew that ..
thats one cool break youve got there ! whoah that pad that plays an octave higer fits really nice!! I think the piano could be a bit louder, just in the main break.. after the kick comes in it sounds sweet the way you re-edited it !!
drive drive drive @ 4:53 and still going.. 4:55 Id like to hear the piano a bit louder.. but hey that was your choice ! in my original song it was mainly the power of the melody that made the track "special".. you focussed alot more on the bass/groove which I think your a master at !! Im really happy with this remix man! !!
