-- A Great Idea!
A Great Idea!
So I was doing some reading, and I figure that someone else on this board is probably exceptionally computer literate, and I thought it would be great if someone would combine the following three threads into a help file for windows. I've seen it done with cigars, and I think it would do this site wonders. If anyone has already done something like this and I'm just too out of the loop, let me know! Otherwise, I command you!
3 Threads:
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Sticky Thread:Aliases List....add or help plz...
Sticky Thread:Know Of Any Official Trance Dj/Producer Webpages? Post Them Here..
Sticky Thread:Artist Discographys
--------------------------------------------------------------------
We should take a doc file, there are many compilators for these files but someone will have to sit and make links inside the hlp file.
Just have it as a HTML file, and have it hosted somewhere, that way it can be easily updated with new infomation.
Jon
hmmm, yeah...

whats the point in that when u can just look at them here..?
that's a good idea.
becouse there are way to many sticky threads on this forum
Idea addendum
Great idea btw....
Have a link on the main page for DJs & Tracklists for sure.
I'm constantly going to other sources for this.
Have an area of the website where we (TAs) can add and edit this (something like the forum but no really in forum format; really not sure what this would look like but I'm sure one of you HTML gurus can think of something...).
I have my own idea as well.
A Trance Primer.
If you don't know what I mean by this, check this website out...for those of you too lazy to click, basically it's a small intro into the world of Trance and it's roots.
We could do up a small one just telling the difference between Hard House/Progressive House/Psi/ etc etc. with a small audio sample of each.
Here's the example
What doya think? Feedback!
sounds like a good idea. you can throw in all those "how to use cue file" threads in there as well. now the thing is, who's gonna do it?
Actually...I just remembered...
There used to be a simple flash site that was a music primer.
It had bubbles interlinked showing which genre comes from where with little audio samples when your mouse went over the bubble.
It was a great site; very simple and quite self-expanitory.
I just can't find it!
as a matter of fact...
Grim Reaper made the aliases list...
check out the sticky for the link
i dont know about the rest of you, but i think thats a great idea as long as its done right... rather than always having to come to the forums and etc. for a small problem.... thats my thoughts on it ne ways..
A newbie commanding me what to do..........HELL NO!!!!!!!!!! (j/k!)
Dunno.......we have so many of some many artists.....and most of them can be found on there websites (the artists or deejays i mean)
Technically speaking...
The only real concern would be traffic for the server really.
Yea we got a new spanky server (forever props to the Swamper!) but what kind of load would that impose to the site?
I supposed once the flash primer was d/l to everyone's cache that wouldn't be a problem.
If the DJ links were set up were we could submit a DJ and respective links...
I guess the mighty Swamper would know more about the realities of this since he's more aware of the current TA server loads; I'm just speculating.
Since I'm somewhat Flash inept...how long does it actually take to put together a flash page?
Me and a friend are making a tracklisting database. The primary page is up at www.bunker7.com The search does not work because we are programming it now.
We have a few qualities in mind:
1. Easy to add a new tracklist
2. Dynamic database (see below)
3. Anyonmous changing a time/track name that gets sent to an approval list viewed by an admin. The admin looks over the changes and approves them. Once approved the changes are made to the tracklisting. (Easy and fast)
4. Search database by Artist, Location
5. Search for a song
Look for it to be up and running Feb 13th.

this is the aliases list
Aliases
enjoy
I already have the aliases list. Kudos to Reaper BTW. As for all of this talk of flash and websites, forget that. I was hoping for an offline searchable version. You know, I might just try and do it myself, but my second semester of college starts up in about a week; so it may take awhile. Well, they're shutting the lights off at work, I gotta run!
I am pleased to tell you that I am the author of a free Helpfile editor-template for Microsoft Word that is used by programmers worldwide.
The tool is called "BorHelp" and it installs an etxra toolbar into Word for creating links, topics, etc.
Here is the page of my program:

Good luck!
Have no fear!
Okay, I'm going to give BorHelp a whirl and take a shot at this beatch. I'm basically jsut going to combine those three sticky threads...but it may take awhile. If anyone else tries or anything, post it.
