Planet Abletronia 2

This mix is abit different in format from my last one, its alot longer and it incorporates quite a few more styles and elements.
The best way to describe my sound is electro house but I go all accross the board on this one touching on techno, prog and even some breakbeat.
Hope you enjoy, and please comment people, only way I will learn

Depends, if you want a good setup, then you'll need;
*) A good computer
*) A midi controller
*) An external sound card with several inputs/outputs
*) A Dj Mixer and of course
*) ableton

otherwise you can mouse your way with pc or mac.

Moe is spot on.
You dont need the best computer, but a good soundcard and ram. As for mixers, im using my Djm-600 that i got with my 1200 mk2's and i find it does a great job. There are mixers out there now that illiminate the need for a midi controler, the Djm-800 and the upcoming Xone 3D come to mind but i actually prefer it with my UC-33e. I use the hardware mixer to controle all the lvls and the midi to controle all the effects that i use. The computer keyboard is mapped to trigger tracks, loops and random sounds i have recorded.
If you want the get the best out of this setup, you need an outboard soundcard with more than 2 individual outputs, i myself have the Firewire 410 and am loving the clarity im getting from it.

The only thing with this settup is it would take some time to set up in a club, its not like showing up just with a bag of records, you have to find a place for the computer (i use the Intel iMac 17", its portable but no laptop), find a place for the soundcard, the midi controler, the keyboard and the mouse. All this in a already crouded dj booth. Its the only setback of playing this way.
But as far as creativity, it TOTALLY blows TTs and CDJs out of the water, take it from me, im not just some n00b who started with Traktor, i started pushing vinyl just like the rest of us.

Friz I enjoyed listening to the set. Everything flowed well across.

I have to say though I reckon we're Knobbin/Fadin on different paths, not that it matters.

There are some tracks i'd like you to id, but not here i'll pm u.

Keep up the good work, it seems to me you are, ur sets twice as long as the norm, and sick graphic too

C'mon guys, im dieing to know what you guys think!

Btw Moe, why do you say that, do you think our styles are too different to play a set together? Im sure we could sort something out, and imho, i think it would rock!

Posted by Mekroon on Apr-13-2006 23:03:

ok my comments
first thing....
the volume has to be around 10dB higher and sometimes like 15, this meaning that the overall volume changes from tune to tune
nice intro
some tracks are too old imo
u start with holden style fuckin peurf then drop imo by putting in some Axwell or funky stuff

some tracks hook me
some really dont

keep up

I just finished listening to it.I like it as a mix for someone who is not too familiar with edm.To someone who knows electronic music, i have to agree a little with Mekroon. Many tracks have been overplayed in clubs and such for a long time. The mixing is good and most of the mix has decent flow to it.Good job mang. You have the mixing down pat, now all you need to do is find some stuff that isnt on everyones playlists

Posted by aria_clubber on Apr-18-2006 22:58:

late review...
your set was fun to listen to, pretty cool mix imo.
only problem is some tracks in your mix are really overplayed at clubs as all night said...
i personnally prefer ur first planet abletronia
but its very cool u did a longer one this time
keep going man, u have all our support
btw i always told u that ur mixing technique is always OFF THE HOOK
cheers
