Is it just me...

Or is the TA search function the most useless thing ever?

I'm trying to find an old post and after not finding ANY results, I just typed in "Search for "what" in all open forums" and it found NOTHING!?

Posted by StanVoid on Apr-10-2006 20:46:

Useless searches (such as your example) will obviously come up with nothing since the results will serve little purpose. There are certain words that are ignored and never indexed, like 'what'.

If you want help why not explain what you're trying to find and what results you believe you should be seeing (and aren't)

From experience, those that say the search sucks aren't even using it properly - there was an issue earlier in the week but it was only recently drawn to my attention - if that's where you ran into problems I apologize, but, it can't get fixed if I don't know it's broken. I'll check again - usually if any issues happen it is at backup time (5am) when the search tables are re-done.

Edit: Yup, it messed up, I'll fix it. I blame jp, his is the first post that fails on import.

INSERT INTO post VALUES (5931971,84817,'jp',2595,'',1143967683,0,'Nchtste Monat mal neue Felgen kaufen. Natrlich gold. Das wird di
e 5. Satz, also fr jede Gelegenheit die richtige Schuhe ',1,1,0,1,0,0);

lol.

Ok, search will be up and running ok again within 20 mins - yearly searches work but time relative ones (2 weeks/3 months/etc.) do not.

Technical explanation of what happened: the script file run at night that checks for a certain string to replace could not find it - reason being that MySql changed the quoting structure around the sql statements so my custom scripts did not find what was expected. I fixed my end so now all will be peachy again.

It's faster to search for all posts by a user by going to their profile and clicking the link on the top right
