FL Studio 6 --> Note helpers (detect scale) in piano roll

I am too stupid to understand music theory, so I never learned that. But the other day I saw this function in FL 6: Note helpers. If they are turned on and you place 3 notes in the piano roll all kinds of shadows appear. How does it work? Do they tell you what notes will sound false in combination with the ones you have already placed in the piano roll?

Can anybody tell me how it works?

I hope it tells me what notes I can use, but I'm not sure...

PLZ READ MY 2nd POST IN THIS TOPIC, I DIDNT MADE CLEAR WHAT OPTION I REALLY MEANT

the note helpers are there as an extend of the keyboard.

you see the white and black notes without helpers on, but wenn you need to put in notes, you have to kindoff "eyeball" what note you press.

with the helpers turned on, the black/white notes are in view in the entire piano roll. so you can see where there's a white key or a black one.

im not good in explanating something, but i hope you undertsand.

so basicly, the helpers are there to view your piano over the entire piano roll and not to let you know what note sounds good.

Thanks

Anyhow, I was browsing the help file (link):

Show note helpers ( Alt+B) - Global switch to activate/deactivate all helpers.
Detect Scale - When selected, the shading of the Piano Roll reflects the scale that best fits the notes in the Piano Roll, the scale is also suggested in the Hint Bar.
View length in note properties - Displays a horizontal line equal to the length of notes in the note properties window.
Ghost Channels ( Alt+V) - When selected, the Piano Roll will show the scores of all channels in the current pattern (they are displayed in the background and have a semitransparent look). Note that these scores are displayed only like a reference for easier sequencing - you can not select or edit them in any way.

So Note helpers is just an option to quickly turn detect scale, view length and ghost channels on or off.
What I actually ment is how the detect scale option works; What does the shading mean?
