work in Melbourne

hi fellow trancers!

I'm looking for some good advice for coming over to Australia this year.

Right now i'm working for a big dancepromoter called Extrema in holland. I'm planning to use my experience in Australia for at least a year.

Does anybody have some information about dance festivals, dance clubs where they can use some dutch ideas?

The combination of Australia and off course trance makes my stay complete!

Thanks in advance for now..

certainly a great idea in theory.. but i wouldnt count on you being lucky enough to score something that quickly...

and certainly wouldnt be a secure enough job to fly here and pick it up expecting to be working full time...

we certainly need some cool, fresh new ideas though

feel free to drop into hobart on your stay and clean my room.

I would suggest you getting in contact with one of the major promotions companies here in Melbourne - Future Entertainment or Hardware/Falconcorp or possibly Agent Mad (or Fuzzy in Sydney as their probably the only relevant groups that would be putting on anything at all in a relative size to Extrema.

Ben, Extrema is one of the biggest festivals and Europe (as well as one of my favourite label groups!). Matthew Dekay's tune from a few years ago "Time To Think" was written as the "theme tune" for that year's festival (each year the festival has a theme and funnily enough Time To Think was that year's theme! ) Chable played there last year during his tour i believe also

If you're under 30 (And who isn't? *cough* *points at dean* ) your best bet is to get a working holidaymaker visa, which means you're in the country for 12 months with full working privs, but that you need to switch employers every three months. This way you have a shot at helping with a few festivals in a few different cities (or at least a few different crews).

If you arrive on a tourist visa, the sponsorship process to change to a proper work visa is much more than most companies would be interested in doing for you for this period of time, and so it's best to come already ready to work. once you get here I think you'll see there is, as Ben has said, heaps of work in the industry if you know where to look (and are willing to eat ramen noodles for breakfast, lunch and dinner). Any immigration-related questions, I'm happy to help. I've been on about a dozen different visas by now.

I'm still under 30 dude

Not for much longer, but i will continue to bask in the deep and relentless sunshine of my twenty-somethings for at least a few more months thank-you very much

You've given me enough inspiration to make sure i enjoy it while it lasts. because, well after that, um, yeah...
