Underworld?
One thing I've been wondering about is: WHY ISN'T UNDERWORLD MENTIONED AT ALL IN THESE FORUMS??? What do consider their album "Everything, Everything"??? I'm really surprised about this one. I NEVER hear about them in here. Is Underworld Trance? I think at least SOME of their track are. Jumble, Junita/Kiteless, and Kind of Snake, ARE Trance (or at least they SOUND like it). I love BORN SLIPPY the most though. I'm trying to track down the Paul Van Dyk mix of Born Slippy. I've only heard it on Marco V's Live set at Trance Energy on 2000/09/30.
hehe underworld are great
they make some kool electronic music, with sme trance elements. some techy elements and prog etc etc. and some other 'in between that!'
they have their unique sound! :P
i love all their productions
re: PVD"s remix
ahh wow.
i would LOVE to have my hands on that acetate! LOL

Underworld got me into the electronica genre in '91.... before crystal method.
Their second album "Dubnobasswithmyheadman" was fuckin unbelievable... there are some epic tunes in there.
Overall i wouldn't consider Underworld trance, i consider them more electronica (just beats and loops, heavy percussion).... they rule but the reason nobody mentions them too often on here is b/c they broke up 2 years ago. Nothing new has come out of them, and they aren't even really trance (this being a trance site)....
But i assure you, back in the day there were some great Underworld discussions on here.
Cheers

I love underworld...it's really good stuff that reminds you of old skool techno, just a lot of percussion but it still kicks ass. I'm pretty sure they broke up though, that sux cuz I would have loved to see a live performance such as "everything, everything".

Underworld seems to be one of the most underrated artists. I remember first listening to dubnobasswithmyhead around the same time as the first Moby album came out along with the first 2 Orbital albums (the "Green" and "Brown" albums). That time period was one of an "innocent techno" era.
Trance music (at least, what morphed into what it now is today) was more or less just getting off the ground back then.
Born Slippy ROXX!! Especially the original version. There was a trance remix form born slippy some time ago, but I prefer the original version. And the vocals in that song are pretty special, don't know how to describe it... But when those beats come in... GREAT!
They r mentioned usually due to born slippy, which still rocks in a club. So they have not been forgotten
First of all......underworld are technically finished because darren emerson left and he was the real brains behind the group (argue it if you want). I don't dispute the face that they were an real force in shaping dance music in the 90's. Anyways since emerson left......he has brought us two very good global underground releases GU015 (my fave of the two) and GU020.
btw. I have CJ Stone and PvD remixes of Born Slippy. (also the original one)
are there any other remixes?
I wish I got a vinyl rip of Born Slippy (Underworld)....the live radio rip just doesn't cut it...
born slippy rocks. i still enjoy listening to it. it just makes you feel good and all.

heheh, born slippy...
all the hardcore Underworld fans hate that song... its like the ONE song that anyone ever knows by them, and it really doesn't hold a candle to all their other masterpieces... really isn't reminiscient of their other tracks either...
The only other major song of theirs that received playtime was "Dark Train" (another classic) that was played by Armin in one of his sets last year... (note: Dark Train is from late '97).
I agree with whoever said Underworld is one of the most underrated groups out there.... and yes, when Emerson left that is when they broke up... they all agreed b/c Hyde knew that they wouldn't sound the same.
You want to hear some funny, pathetic shit? Get their FIRST album, called "Underneath the Radar", from the late '80's.... man it SUCKS (pre-Emerson era)... it is horrible 80's pop crap... TOTALLY not like Dubnobasswithmyheadman....

.....dark train
Emerson started his set off with this gem @ MobileHome in sydney, NYE last yr.
i think my fav produciton of underworld is "born slippy'
but, "cowgirl' and 'Rez' are also standouts

pete tong played it on the EM this year (2001), and so did someone else.. i cant remember.. ferry put it on the original trance nation album.
that's really trancy, but their other stuff isnt. can someone tell me where i can find the pvd remix of born slippy in mp3? i have the HH versions on vinyl.. but i dont like hard house..
Yeah Underworld are kewl
Hey all,
I love underworld they are very nice Original Electronica
i saw them at Glast 99 and they blow my head off.
With tracks like Born slippy, Long and Dark and Cow girl that song Is fucking amazing.
They were one of the first electronic groups along with The prodigy and should go down in history for being pioneers.
If you like them i suggest you get
:Aphex_Twin_-_Born_Slippy_[Pink_Floyd_Remix]_-_Underworld.mp3
It's the very weird but kewl!!!
Bye all
Thpus
Yeh I agree! It must be said that Underworld are unsung heroes...
Tho I think my fave tune from them isn't Born Slippy even though it's the one everyone remembers them for. I prefer Dark & Long (Dark Train mix), which is an amazing tune... and I love Pearl's Girl to bits as well!!
lateRZ,

what's the addy to their website?
Dubnobasswithmyheadman is a master piece. Everyone should have it.
I agree that the Underworld sound is unique, you can't place them in one category. Dark Train was the first track I heard from them, it really rocks! So does their "Everything Everything" live album. And don't forget Cowgirl 2000 (Bedrock Remix) - quality!
once emerson left it kinda went pete tong for underworld, emerson was asked what he taut of their new album "2months off" and its first single "100 days off" he taut it was only AVERAGE and said the album was piss poor.Emerson rocked with underwold.
Everything,Everything
They have been really poular and had loads of exposure although they are not technically trance.
Undeworld - Dark & Long (Dark Train Mix)
Underworld - Push Upstairs
Underworld - Born Slippy
Underworld - King Of Snake
Underworld - Jumbo
Underworld - Cowgirl
all these tunes are CLASSICS!!!!! underworld is awesome...
