Review: Decadence 2006 - Apr. 13

Well, I was driving on the Gardiner Expressway and I looked down to see an awesome party taking place at the Guvernment Entertainment Complex. I heard some wicked tracks from AVB...the sound was so crisp and clear from the Guv that it sounded like it was coming directly from my car!!!

...okay, so how was the party from the inside?

P.S. That's right, my name is Fahad and I approve this thread.

EDIT:

Everyone's vid and pic links...Good suggestion, smuncks!

You must have been driving with no other cars in the core and about 5 km per hour to have heard anything...

Are you sure you didn't forget to turn off your car stereo?

When someone tells a "dumb blonde" joke, do you also point out that not all blondes are necessarily dumb?

I perform comedy acts 5 nights a week. Be sure to try the steak dinner.

BTW - don't forget to wipe yourself when you're done (after all, isn't that what one does to an asshole?).

just got back from decadence, was only my 2nd night out after moving here and this party was amazing! met a few TA people, great music but tough to choose. even the cab driver took me home for a gram. met lots of great people, now time to try to get some sleep.

Home Early for me tonight. No more parties for me on workdays, just too much i guess.. Big thanks goes out to Sean Cassidy for the Hook-up.. w00t w00t.. Alright so yah, got there friggin early and met up with a bunch of people. (Everybody knows who they are)

Mark Oliver dropped an awesome set as usual, I don't think I've ever been disappointed with MO.

Can't remember DJ #2 name, haha damn i'm tired.. anyways, yah technically speaking he was good, but i wasn't really digging it, ended up taking a nap in the lounge area in kool haus behind the bar..

Mr. Oakenfold, haven't seen him since 2001, and to my surprise he dropped a great set. Well done sir, but theeenn it happened.. Splitting headache, queezy tummy. Went for a walk around, tried to cool down, no luck its Time to jet. (Note to self don't forget earplugs at home)

Armin - No clue, i left just before he went on.

Well the day started out shitty, and ended shitty (no surprise there). Still had fun for the time I did get to enjoy. Great seeing everyone, see yah at US10. yeees a saturday. I can sleep till 7pm. hahaha

Alright where is the friggin Aspirin... aaaaaahhh...

Platipus Signing off.

I'm hearing rumors that Decadence III, despite its huge bevy of Top Jocks and All-Access grandeur - Did in fact suck.

Confirm / Deny?

Well done, Toronto

This was my first night out on the town in the TO. As I've mentioned in other posts, I just moved up here from Orlando. Let me understate that I was really impressed with visual splendour throughout the club (see below for evidence). As for the wax, I tuned in to josh gabriel, icey, and oakie.

For the unbelievers out there, Oakie still remembers his trance roots. Please tell me someone recorded this set. I think this was every bit as good as his glory days in '99 and '00. He didn't drop any of the pop remixes that usually piss me off. He *did* make me go berserk about 10 different times.

Armin started putting down what had every indication of being a great set, but I'd had my fill of the sweat rain falling from the ceiling in Kool Haus. Besides, I'd already seen and heard enough to prove that this town knows how to throw a soiree. I'm proud to call this place home!

Me with some of the aforementioned Visual Splendour:

My fellow O-towner, the Ice Man

I have a few videos of Oakie that I'll get up soon after I edit.

Just got back, crazy night. Oakenfold played amazing and even acknowledged my Perfecto t-shirt which was hilarious. I certainly hope it was recorded.

He played...

Save the Last Trance for Me
Faster Kill Pussy Cat
Hello Strings
Dogzilla - Without You
Remix of Greece 2000
Remix of Space Maneuvers Part ???
Southern Sun

Then Armin opens with a remix of Coldplay's Talk. He was playing really well when I took off just after 6am.

I hope the house room was just as good.

overall decent night.

lee burridge spun an ok set. i've seen better from him but it was still quite solid (for the last hour at least). was expecting a little bit more from sander k but he was alright none the less. checked out a bit of josh gabriel and oakie, i guess it's save to say that i'm completely over with trance. i then spent most of the night in orange room with hyper throwing down a solid (though not many surprises) set. i really hoped more people paid attention to hyper's music as i was talking to him afterwards, he said 'it was ok... you know people were just walking in and out.' orange room shouldn't get shafted like that when they aren't playing hiphop!
hyper was by far the best for me (god im a huge fan of him. i see him roughly 3 times a year for the past 3 years all over the places lol)

k so i nearly lost my life coming to this thing...
mannn...
literally inches away from getting T-Boned (yes thats right front of car perpendicular to my car) on the 427 south just before Dundas St......this dude decided he is gonna pull a couple crazy lane changes and loses control on the highway i hit the gas and barely avoid getting hit by him after he bounces off the median and into the car behind me....i look in the rear view mirror and all i see is car pieces and glass flying up in the air...still moving (the conditions were NOT safe to stop considering all the cars flying around the highway ) Theresa calls 911 and they send out their resuce team...the rest is history as far as i am concerned...911 has my phone number and my name and can call me if they want to know again what i saw...facking craziness

anyways...Kool Haus...started off a little slow because of the recent events that had just taken place...still a little shaken up, i slowly got into a vibe and was on the dance floor about 3/4 of the way into Oakenfold's set. He really didnt seem to be into it at all...mixing wasnt the smoothest either...pretty quick ones too...but im just a critique

Josh's set was really nuts...really original and mental sounding tunes i loved it....great way to warm up the already jumping crowd

Armin was GREAT! but...not as GREAT as last year's Decadence party...but still impressed me none the less

oh yeah...Oakie gets props for playing "Igor S - Boomerang" i LOVE it when a DJ plays an unexpected track that fits the mood so well ....a pure classic tune too

Dannie (tamiko) WHERE DID YOU GO???? DID YOU EVEN GET IN?? i really hope you are ok!!! if any of you know the where-abouts of Dannie, please let me know ASAP

anyways...heh been a while since i wrote a review but i felt like typing this time

PS -- JOHN TANG: thanks a lot for the reduced list hook up, true gentleman, if i had of seen you at all tonight, i woulda got you a drink

cheers all,

AJ signing off...for now
