NHL thread

Funny no mention of hockey so far, following the Olympics

Who's your pick to be hoisting the Stanley Cup at the end?

also, must-win game for Rangers tonight, vs Ottawa, for the Atlantic Division title, and for home ice in the playoffs
Unless both Flyers and Devils both lose their last games
Would be a shame if they don't hold on to their lead
I hope Hank is fully recovered and ready to play

Unbelievable finish in the Atlantic Division
Even when the Rangers were losing, it looked like they would hang on, as Devils and Flyers were also both losing, but then both exploded late to win. Devils steal the title. Now it's time to work on the one that counts.

Posted by pvd420 on Apr-19-2006 03:45:

devils didnt steal the title...rangers and flyers both blew it.

let's go devils....

I just have to say it is a great playoff picture when both the biggest pieces of shit in the league, Canucks and Maple Leafs, miss the playoffs. Bertuzzi can go fuck himself on the course and Tucker can go knee him on the 18th hole.

GO OILERS, HABS & AVS!!!

Posted by halexander837 on Apr-19-2006 21:13:

well here's my picks for the first round only...

Oilers upset Detroit

Avalanche plow over Dallas

Calgary takes down Anaheim

Nashville hooks up the Sharks

now for the East

Senators fry the Champs

Hurricanes blow by Montreal

Rangers over Jersey

Sabres roll by Phily

dang, the Rangers defense (or lack thereof) is looking more like that of the Knicks
Hank is playing goalie like he's not even there
All the penalties aren't helping either

Posted by partyhopper on Apr-22-2006 21:40:

Av's get the first away-team win of the playoffs, 5-2 over the Stars

Habs do likewise, crushing the Canes, 6-1

Posted by pvd420 on Apr-23-2006 03:48:

flyers lose in 2 ot, rangers get embarassed....my kind of day

Posted by Empire101 on Apr-23-2006 12:32:

I was shocked about 2 results
AVS vs. Dallas
Rangers vs. NJ

How Rangers could lose so?
Good surprise about AVS win over Dallas.

Yeah Edmonton. Sure they were trapping, but whatever works. Detroit really didn't get anything going until the third but Roloson was solid and the Oiler's D did a good job of clearing rebounds.

About the series: IMO Edmonton facing Detroit was the best possible match-up for the Oilers. I don't understand why Detroit is being talked about as if they were unstoppable. They got to play Chicago, Columbus and St. Louis 8 times each. That's like 40+ points FOR FREE!!! Edmonton split the season series with them and has historically been a tough opponent for the Red Wings. For these reasons I think the Oilers have more than a good chance at stealing this series.

damn the habs blew the Canes. what a sick game.

I hope they get over themselves tho and stick to solid play and win the next one.

Maybe I should do the really cool playoff pool for NHL Playoffs as I did for MLB Playoffs last year. Anyone interested?

Bwah ... a little a late, because I have been soooo busy lately, but oh well, here are my first round predictions:

West:

Red Wings vs. Oilers - in 6 games
Stars vs. Avalanche - in 6 games
Flames vs. Mighty Ducks - in 7 games
Predators vs. Sharks - in 7 games

East:

Senators vs. Lightning - in 6 games
Hurricanes vs. Canadiens - in 7 games
Devils vs. Rangers - in 6 games
Sabres vs. Flyers - in 7 games

Posted by stren on Apr-24-2006 15:57:

lol yeah i'm getting excited. But what a game! Huet was getting a little on the civ side of things there but damn...I've never yelled at a TV so much in my life (except maybe for the World Cup). Montreal definitely have more of a shot than the so called hockey "pundits" (especially the morons on ESPN) gave them credit for. I'd prefer to avoid Buffalo though when/if we advance. I'd give my left nut to be in Montreal for Wed and Fri's games. Best hockey city in the fucking world.

Posted by malek on Apr-25-2006 04:37:

as long as we don't face new jersey

if we win, its gonna be either Ottawa, Nj or Buffalo. Buffalo its friggin hard, but totaly possible, Ottawa doable... NJ Brodeur is on fire.

Posted by Spartan on Apr-25-2006 15:50:

wow what is going on w/ Philly? Somebody who understands hockey please tell me why they are losing so bad.
