Smiley DJ Paolo Mojo ‘Balance:009’ at Room680

Melbourne all set to get its Mojo at Volume:
Paolo Mojo ‘Balance:009’ at Room680

Continuing its proud and world-renowned tradition for hosting world-class club nights featuring the world’s finest DJ’s, Room680 is at it again, this time with dance music’s neo-House man of the minute, Paolo Mojo.

For those that haven’t heard the inimitable sound of Paolo Mojo, an incredible musical experience of genre-defying, funk-infected beats awaits, taking in the finest upfront Electro, ass-rattling House and melodic, drifting Techno. While for those who know and revere him, a once in a lifetime, intimate ‘Mojo moment of magic’ beckons.

Touring on the back of his inaugural Balance EQ compilation mix release ‘Balance:009 Paolo Mojo’, Paolo has been recently described by Sasha as “one of the brightest stars of the future destined for great things”, and by Pete Tong as a “future star of dance; a unique talent”.

For an event of this magnitude, it’s somewhat fitting that Melbourne’s biggest club night Volume at Room680 will play host. Paolo Mojo will join the Volume crew and faithful at Room680 on Saturday, April 22 for what will be an incredible night of iconic and groundbreaking status both now, and for years to come.

Local support from : Andrew Padula, Dee Dee, TKO, Alex Fillipa, Tom Pandzic, Benzai, Matt Hoffman, D-JCB, Tahl, Rowie & Danni B

That set can be found on mp3 at the SatelliteSF website.
Yeah he played just like that set in the side-room at Livewire for the time I was there (the first 45 min), very nice. Recognised quite a few tracks off that set. He goes into deeper techy/glitchy/electro territory after the first hour though which doesn't really hold my interest.

So who's coming to this? Anyone have any idea what time Paolo's playing?

Posted by Renegade on Apr-22-2006 20:34:

So was I the only one that went to this?

The guy fucking killed it. I was expecting some pretty inoffensive, groovable housey type stuff (a la everything that I've heard from him so far), but he really did tear it up, especially for the second hour. Big basslines, big build-ups, big-room house altogether - Danny Howells is probably the only guy I've seen pull it off better. I'm normally one to sit at the side and ruminate about DJ technique, but the guy had me dancing for pretty much the entirety of his set. Played a lot of anthem type house in the last hour, but even that came off somehow.

So yeah, awesome night. Bad luck to all of you who missed out. :-/
