recording sounds f'ed
i have a pretty basic DJ set up, got my dual CD player connected to mixer and then from the mixer (i have 2 outputs, high and low) i connect the high output to my amp/speakers, then the low outputs are connected via RCA -> stereo 3.5mm jack into a griffin iMic, this is connected to my iBook via USB connection, i have audacity open to record, i record my set. But when i go back to either play it back thru the computer OR after i burn it and play the CD, IT SOUNDS LIKE TOTAL ARSE!? why is this!? i'm using the default settings in Audacity. Are these the right sample rates? They are as follows
Default Sample Rate: 44100Hz
Default Sample Format: 32-Bit-Float
i can provide more information at request, including a sample of the crap sound. also i found that i had to turn the input from the iMic down to like, the lowest it can, could this be why? PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME OUT!!
I would plug it into Line-in, not the mic...but is that what you are doing?
Also, what do you mean by high and low?
update....
i have fiddled around with some settings... and disccovered that if i record it in MONO not stereo it sounds at least sort of decentish. Also i am using the line in setting
with the high and low, my mixer has two different pairs of RCA outputs, a high voltage (+6dBu(1.55V RMS)) and a low voltage (0dBu(0.775mV RMS)
so im not sure whats happening with this stuff, but im guessing im stuck recording in mono if i want to have any tolerable quality in sound
has anyone else had this problem?
Just want to double check, you are plugging into the line in on the imic?
yes im plugging into the line in.... there is only an input and an output on the iMic, and then a switch to control between mic and line in... the switch is set to linein as per the manual and webpage instructions
