NEW YORK � Home TV screens just keep getting bigger. And there's no end in sight. Panasonic pitched a tent outside the New York Stock Exchange yesterday to show off the biggest high-definition plasma screen yet.

At 103 inches, it's an inch bigger than versions being produced by Samsung and LG.

Panasonic vice president Andrew Nelkin says the new screen weighs 400 pounds. If you buy one, and have a wall big enough to fit it, you'll want professional installation.

He also says he wouldn't be surprised to see someone come up with an even bigger screen before long.

not amazing ... it might be the biggest, but it still looks like a typical, big-screen flat tv. I wouldn't call it HUMONGOUS compared to other nicely-sized flats.

Yeah I have a regular bigscreen tv that's just under 6 feet tall (speaker and screen not just the screen ) and it looks way bigger than that asian guy.

It will still be the good old 1920x1080, or more likely since a lot of broadcasters still don't do 1080i (and even less 1080p), 1280x720.

Your just stretching the image at this point, and the distance you sit back from the TV to not notice the diminishing detail will negate the size.

Probably 400 w/base =)

I have a Sony 40" XBR1 and it's hangin on my wall - minus the stand is about 20-25lbs. And HD via cable services are NOT WORTH IT! There are hardly any broadcast stations sending out 1080p (maybe 2 at max - HBO and Discovery Channel)

i dont see why not. If you mount it right and distribute the weight right it wont be a problem. You cant just put a nail in the wall and hope it will stay there.

really?? i would've thought that in the states you guys would get your money's worth in terms of HD. Up here it's fuckin garbage.

at 400 lbs, you would have to anchor it right to the studs inside the wall, and at that it had better be a damn well build wall, most interior walls are shottily built at best. you would definatly want someone who knows what they are oding to hang this puppy.... its huge....
