computer speakers (help)
Yes it's me with yet another computer related problem. But this one is really really bad. A couple of months ago i bought a set of speakers...Logitech X-530 5.1 surround sound. I installed them properely, but only the 2 front speakers and the bass worked. And now NOTHING WORKS!!
So i can't listen to music. Does anyone know what the problem could be? I was listening to music...it wasn't even very loud...and then all of a sudden the sound just stopped. So far, I restarted my computer and replugged everything in the back of it. Nothing is happening and i need my music! Any help would be great!!
could be four possible reasons:
sound drivers are wack
sound card is wack
master volume in windows is wack
you are wack

your speakers are probably fine, so i wouldn't jump to that first.
Things to try:
Start > All Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Volume Control
double check that nothing is muted, and your volume isn't at zero.
un-install your soundcard (through windows) and re-install with new drivers from the manufacturer's website.
if that doesn't work, replace your soundcard with a new one. They are uber-cheap, and an easy install.

to make sure what the problem is for sure
plug in ur computer speakers into another device. if speakers work, then its not speakers.
plug headphones into the soundcard. same thing applies. if they work then somethings messed up between the speakers and the soundcard.
those are really the only two options

Actually, bet we can get those other speakers working without having to buy a new sound card...
Try this:
START -> CONTROL PANEL -> SOUNDS & AUDIO
Make sure you are in the VOLUME tab, at the bottom of the tab is an ADVANCED button. Click it.
Then you will be prompted with a SPEAKER SETUP drop down menu. I am guessing you currently have DESKTOP STEREO SPEAKERS selected. Click the little arrow and select 5.1 SURROUND SOUND SPEAKERS. Click on Apply. Then click on OK. Then you can close the CONTROL PANEL.
Let me know if that fixed the problem...
