American Psycho

I just got this movie at the advice of my friend.. anyone seen it?

Damn!

I absolutely loved it..

*SPOILERS BELOW*

I'm still trying to debate the ending with myself though. The director said she regrets not making it more clear that all of the murders were real, just that everyone was caught up in their own shit to not notice.

But the one scene that still bugs the hell out of me about that is when Bateman goes to Paul Allen's apartment and all the bodies are gone, and the woman that lives there confronts him and tells him to leave.. so did he just put them somewhere else and imagine that they were all at Allen's apartment?

If you wish to understand me better...watch Patrick Bateman. I am his catharsis.

The book is much better imo, even if the movie is awesome!

Yeah, the killings never happened, just invented by Bateman to icrease his over-inflated self worth.

I didn't really like the movie, I understand you can't fit everything from a book into a movie, and I usually like the movie versions of books, but American Psycho left TONS out.

read the book... then read all of Ellis' other books... then read Lunar Park. his stories are extraordinarily personal, and it amazes me how much you can learn about him, and what goes through his mind when he creates/develops characters, after reading a few of his books. the movies (American Psycho, Less Than Zero, Rules of Attraction) don't do justice to the books.

Bret Easton Ellis ftw.

Favorite line ever from a movie, said by a random suit coming to sit down in a swank restaurant:

They don't have a good bathroom to do coke in.

Indeed they should. Oddly enough, I got a very "American Psycho" vibe in those bathrooms.
