Joe Waters pres. ETP -- Summer Moods

Featuring a break and main melody. Just wondering what you all reckon. This is by no means the final edit, loads more fx and mastering to be done but it's a good start I think.

Anyway, listen here -- Joe Waters pres. ETP [Exquisite Trance Production] -- Summer Moods

That's not really a review is it? I will review your tune but, in future, make sure you give DETAILED feedback and not just a few words. It dosen't really help.

Evil1

more detail.....kik is weak..piano is a tad to loud.....watch your high freq range seems too much at my end.the rest is nice keep up the good work

the first synth appears a bit dry.. track seems distorting too.. the track itself sounds like the same old formula.. but i like the piano its the thing that separates it.. needs some cleaning up.. and its easier to review full lengt tracks.. good luck

Hey Joey,

i realy like the style of the track. its rather a few years ago than the actual trance sound, i pretty much prefer the older sound.

plucked sound in the intro is good but needs reverb and delay. maybe a longer release would be sounding good on this one.

i like the lead that emerges at 0.40. you could maybe try to variate the melody a bit more.
or give the pad a more present and wet sound.

beat is pretty cool, clap is my favourite, very smooth to my ear.

soundwise i realy liked this one but it needs something to stant out the crowd imo. catchy lead melody or catchy pads or something like that.

good work so far, nik.

are you the same person i reviewed a few weeks back? lol

sounds much better mate. wasnt keen on the dj sammy thing you had going on a few weeks back. this is commercial trance but in a club sense not a cheesy way. i actually like this got my head moving. good use of the sound and a lovely piano.

one thing i dont like is the saw synth i think theres too much cut off in it. maybe reduce that and give it a cleaner sound.

would have liked to hear more to give a better review.

good luck finishing it mate!

Hey Joey

I like the bass sound in this, very cool, although I find the melody quite standard, however the piano is very nice. The sound in general is a bit muddy. Nice drive to the track, just a bit of work in the mixing.

Cheers!
Ricky

Hey Mate,

It is quite an okay sample u got here. Nothing spectacular though because it lacks drive and depth.

A few pointers:

- The pluckish sound of the beginning of the sample is too dry. Try a bit of delay and reverb on it. The same for the little piano at the 20 sec mark.

- Melodywise this track does not do it for me, what I do like though is the "crying" synth u introduce at around 32 seconds. Lovely sound mate!

- You could make this track a lot more hardknock and driving with that crying synth being more upfront and getting a beat going that is a bit more spectacular. The mixdown of the percs is not very good at the moment. Hi hats too dominant, kick too soft.

Other than that, enjoyable listen mate.

Thanks Nomen. That pluck is starting to annoy me as well.

Yeh so, i've updated the sample. Substituted the pluck for a more PPK-style sound, also increased the reverb and delay to widen it up. Melody has been altered and there is now a sub synth that goes along smoothly with the main. I've also added a drone string during the build to give atmosphere and introduced an acid during the 8-ths.

An lookout for a vocal that brings in the bass.

Alright son

I'm listening now...

Cleaner sounding intro here...nice fx in the background here...waiting for the bassline to come in...doesnt . At the breakdown now - I like this melody, though as before I still think it's quite standard, although it sounds very push like. Definitely an improvement over the previous version, equing is better. That pad could do with having some of its high frequencies removed, either that or the twinkly bell sound.

Anyway good luck finishing it!
