Most (but not all) Dell monitors are made by Samsung.

I hate the fact that I paid $860 for my 17" just 2 years ago.

Fuck me with a rake.

Speaking of companies being OEMs for others, Sony LCDs are made by Daytek. You buy Daytek, you buy Sony.

I'M SO TEMPTED OH BLOODY HELL

He would not be amused.

...and from you of all people... the namesake of the company.

For shame.

yeah I paid 800 USD for mine about 2 years ago as well. It had a TV tuner so back then it seemed like a reasonable price... not so much anymore. but that's pretty much like any form of advancing electronics these days.

Hmm... reading some reviews online it looks like there are banding issues with these monitors (x07 models)

I'm not buying one now..

An excellent alternative to the Dell is the Viewsonic VP930b. It's considered by many to be the best 19" monitor for professional use. Monitor Depot has it for $438.

You seem to know about monitors

I'm thinking of getting this one now:

Only $230 after $70 rebate, and 100 reviews of 5 stars (I hope it's not all tiger direct employees that make up those reviews?)

My dad just bought me a 19" flat screen. It was on sale too...I dunno how much it was though. But I love it. He got these speaker things that are attached to it too. SO much room now on my desk...which is good for me b/c I have shit EVERYWHERE>

Posted by Aitizaz on Apr-26-2006 21:10:

wow..thats a pretty good deal for a 19" flat panel...from the limited research i've done...they start at $300. quick question...these banding issues...they are only for the 20" one right?

Yup.. I love my NEC MultiSync FE950+

...however I just caved and bought a 19" -- gonna give it to my Dad since his 17" CRT is fading and that's not good on the eyes -- and after reading this thread it seems after some tweaking of the 1907 the issues aren't as bad as the 2007
