Talking Servus

Wie geht's?
Just wanted to let you know that I'm currently learning German at the university.

It's going so well that the professor thinks that I've had some German before, but I haven't.

I'm the only one in the class who actually gets it!

Here are some german sentences for you to practice.

1. Ich liebe nur Trance, alles andere kann mir gestohlen bleiben! = I only love trance, everything else doesn`t interest me.

2. Ein Bier bitte! = One beer please!

3. Knnen Sie mir sagen, wie ich ins Casino komme, um PvD zu sehen? = Can you tell me the way to the casino to see PvD?

How do they teach you to say , and ?

hehe, they just say the actual sounds: "ae", "oe", and "ue".

By the way, the professor (she is German) isn't familiar with the spelling-reform, so she doesn't know where you _nowadays_ have to write "ss", and where the "" remains.

Our homework assignment for today was to write a short essay, and I wrote mine on a computer in Fraktur-schrift! (You know, with the long-s, and stuff.) I found a free Fraktur font on the Web, and used it in my essay. She was amazed!

I am the best student in the class

I remember a TV interview with Burt Reynolds and he had to say the name of the TV Station: Tele Fnf

Laughed my ass off since he tried more than 10 times before he got it....

BTW Eugene: You can really be proud if you catch on german quickly because it`s a real hard language to learn. There`s a saying in Germany:

Deutsche Sprache, schwere Sprache. <- ..and it`s true!

"Servus" is actually used by austrians and those from bavaria though

Es ist super, dass du Deutsch lernst, Eugene! = It's super that you learn german, Eugene!

Don't worry 'bout and ss ... it's better when don't give a damn about it ... otherwise u could get confused with it like me after that fuken spelling-reform
