You know what the real shame is?

They had the opportunity to do something clever, using rational arguments and point out every contradiction there is on "God's Punishment", yet they decide to insult her and get carried away by emotion, becoming almost like a "mirror".

I saw this on Hannity/Colmes as well as his interview with her (a separate interview altogether) on his radio show earlier that day. Insane radicals have loooove the attention, no matter what kind they get. I also read a spread on this family in the Wichita Eagle about a month ago.

My question to Hannity, Faux News, and the fairly conservative Wichita Eagle paper is this - why give them the time of day? You know exactly why they are stirring up shit. You know there is no point in attempting to try to understand their irrationality. What is the necessity of giving them the time of day?

I had a wart on my left toe not too long ago. Rather than picking and prodding at it, which often times only makes it worse, I put a piece of duct tape on it and did not allow it to breathe. The wart is gone, and I'm able to run my usual weekly mileage now.

It's a simple concept. Take away the negative energy by not giving twits like these the time of day. Allow each and every state Congress to handle them as they see fit, and the warts will eventually run their course without any air given.

thats just what i was thinking while watching that. the answer is ratings. theres no reason to put this woman on the air, it just makes a good story for them to show.

i dont really understand why some of you are getting so much excitement out of it. ive heard worse things said by people on that show. i dont get why this one is any different than the other nutbags we see all the time on television. im kinda disappointed i was conned into watching 5 minutes of fox news

My thoughts exactly. They actually sounded more ignorant than she did in the interview. Even though I still think her views are crazy, they should have conducted themselves better.

The reason isn't soley ratings. While that does help, one of the other major reasons is that it makes the less hateful religious conservatives seem that much more normal. These people can go so far to the extreme that it makes those that just minorly condemn gays and non-extremists religious conservaties seem that much more normal.

In politics, you're a moderate if there's some nutjob way past your beliefs. Fox News and their conservative viewpoint LOVE interviews and stories like this, because it makes them seem that much more normal, justifying their biased viewpoints to those in the center that can be swayed. In reality, we all know that those are the votes that matter in elections, don't we?
