LOTR - Evenstar (RickyM remix)

Not so much a remix this time, I just used the vocal part in the breakdown, and made a melody that seemed to fit it nicely.
I suppose you can call it the follow up to the Enya remix, but it's at a much faster pace.

Just a 192kbps 4min sample this time though, as I'm trying to sort something out for this track...

LINK!

Any feedback would be helpful too

Ricky

your a fan of lotr rickdawg.

lovely atmospheric intro. really nice when it kicks in. what can i say really. you cant fault your work these days.

excellent job!

Good Lord! This is pure dope.

One complaint, the bass is sounding a tad muddy and overflushed on the main groove. THe sub-bass seems a tiny bit incomprehensible. I could easily be wrong, because I'm only on these headphones at the moment.

What a vibe!

HOWEVER: The last few bars of the sample, I could hear the sub-bass better. I need to plug-in my speakers to get a better representation.

Cheers.

Hey Ricky.
A new lotr mix! Great!!

Omg, now it's beggining to happend things, at 50 sek. wow! :P
Great atmosphere in the beggining. Nice main melody.

Cant wait to the final! It's really great in the beggining, and I love the way you've made it became banging trance, great work!

Posted by richg101 on May-03-2006 08:05:

very clean sound here mate

lush use of the vocal sample. i like the way the sound is almost lowcut for a lot of the time and then the lows come in unexpected. - but maybe make it sound ever so slightly more fitting by automating a slight variation in the cutoff so it varies in that part throughout.- i ya know what i mean..

lows come in and the track sounds great. its got the warmth that i loved from your previous enya track. i have to say this may sound nicer a few bpm slower... not sure tho.

sounding great 'rickdawg-jnr'. and i look forward to the finished artical.

Hey Rick,

Immediately as the track starts, I love the serenity in it.. The vocals are really well done..

Woah thats one massive kick and bass you have their bud . I particularly love the filtering work in this track.. the melodies are awesome for a build up and look forward to see where you take this one

by the way you take it up the ass you wannabe pommy bastard.

Yo
commenting as I listen..

lovely intro indeed. This atmospheric fantasy stuff rocks, I'd love to hear more of you in that style.
Nice beat then, good drive.
There is still something getting a little too sharp in the upper frequencies, at least on my speakers.
Awesome ambience and pads.
Really, there is nothing I could criticize your track for, your productions have been getting pretty damn awesome recently.
Get signed! :P

Really looking forward to listening to this when I get home, huge fan of your Enya remix

hehe.. Gonna listen. got a remix of it to! made for 2 years ago.

Looking forward to hear yours

hehe.. they are pretty much the same!
nice though! dont like that the "voice" sample is in so bad quality!

even I like your production very much

Will upload my one to TA. Review it!

Posted by RickyM on May-03-2006 20:36:

Thanks guys

Rayan, I'll review yours soon , I have the full version somewhere still!

Hey mate,

I really like the beginning of the sample, the vocal is sweet and how you use the filter on the percussions is superb.
I already told you that I think the main synth is a bit too sweet to carry the track if it is meant to be a big stormer. The middlebass is sexy as usual in your tracks, the subbas needs to be more dominant though.

For the rest this track proves you are becoming better and better and in potential this is even better than your previous LOTR remix. So finish it and let me hear the finished article.

(by the way our new track Lunar Light is still better than this one Rick haha)

Hey ricky
This track is sweet , I like it especially the breakdown which is so magik, great job on this.
It is better than your previous LOTR Enya remix imo...and get signed.

Yo Rick man,

Really surprised you haven't been snaffled up by some label yet. Another awesome piece mate, percs are good, rolling bass is nice, effects are fucking awesome, melodys catchy but not cheesey whatsoever. Wicked again mate, i'll look forward to the finished product.

Wow! Awesome track production is top class!..

Love all thoes spine-tingly woshes and spills..

Love the break at 2:42 - just at the right time for me..

More fab ambient tingles

Good luck with this one, will keep an eye out in the shops!

Posted by Nemesis44 on May-05-2006 14:28:

Ricky!

I can't believe the shite that you write. This is utter bollocks!

Ok, so I'm joking.

Quality production allround. The breakdown makes me want to wear a blond wig, wrap myself in white sheets and speak with an echo whilst killing Orcs.
Anyway preciouses, quality all round although for me the highlight was the break down. Rest of the track needs something more to bring it too life as it seems just a wee bit flat.

Technical skills are spot on even if the kick could perhaps be a little fuller in my most humble opinion.

Keep this up and you will be signed soon enough if that's what you want.

Cheers
Nem

Nice, I thought we were heading for a melodic piece of downtempo before the filtered bass kicked in. Very nice angle you take it down after that gourgeous string melee. Cant fault this piece at all.

Maybe the melody could do with touching up abit but that is only preference. Great work my son.

Posted by Mycron on May-05-2006 16:10:

it tops man, immense work!

/me listens to EVENSTAR SAMPLE [00:06 of 03:20m/192Kbps/44KHz]

Listens.

Nice ambience. Cool samples nice and spacy. Ahh the kick with the big reverb. Nice

Oh snap. Here comes the trance. 0:53
Nice job. I do love highpass filters.
Yay. breaking right into it 1:16!

The ambience is still well mixed in the background. Doesn't really get in the way of your mix of percussion etc. Sounding pretty choon.

kick and bass is excellent. The mastering job is really good too. It's nice to see the winamp RTA hit all of it's little bars.

2:38 = loving it. I love the high passed grindy bassline/synth.

Andd back into it! 3:06! Nice sounding stuff.

Good sample sir! Can't wait to hear a full version maybe?

Professional quality, but what else should I expect from RickyM?

Posted by RickyM on May-06-2006 16:57:

THanks guys, usefull feedback about the bass and melody, I'll look into it!

Posted by kopi_luwak on May-06-2006 18:09:

I am digging this alot ricky, very uplifting, pads are really cool, nice job keep ous updated!
Kopi =o.

Posted by Zombie0729 on May-06-2006 20:01:

a choir pad to compliment a choir! haha love it

not sure of the churps, but the bassline is really driving! the delays and the pans work perfectly, did you stumble across that or did you work it out(truth be told!) ?

would like to hear some more variations in the percussion, and possible some larger sweeps with the choir pad.

overall, enjoyed it!

Posted by Sparkunian on May-07-2006 18:21:
