Sad story

on Tuesday i had to go to York Central Hospital
and one of my friends who works there told me that there was a girl in Critcal care who consumed 2 E pills at (*edit* - no way to know 100% what club she was at, so lets not spread rumours) and suffered from a horrible side effect ...
her brain + cerebrospinal fluid expanded and she was later put off life support ...

she passed away.
I saw her family crying out side the CCU .. such a sad scene ...

thought of sharing

Unless she drank NO water and dehydrated, i think this shows
you can never REALLY be completely safe

Fuck, if it REALLY was ONLY 2 pills? So sad

this is a horrible story, but I often wonder when I hear stories like this if the pills were mixed with any other combination.

No matter what though, sad to hear
Did you know the girl Sahand?

Well ya, I understand that. I mean you just lost your child and you have a doc asking if you would like to donate parts. The family JUST lost thier child, it's hard enough to think about that, but then to think about her being cut up and given away.

The same thing happend when my bestfriend died in a car accident, the doc had asked the same thing, my friends mom flipped..

unfortunatelly its the most common side effect and cause of death..in school we watched videos about this, 3-4 years a 16 year old died on her birthday after just 1 pill

Yes, it is sad and I feel for her family, but organ donation is something that the doctors can't put off asking for too long.

i wonder why
eventhough i should know this from uni ...
I'll search into it

wonder if theres a certain predisposition ; since it happens to certain ppl even with small intake

Posted by Frenchie on May-05-2006 04:45:

People don't think about the side effects at the time of popping, or if they do, they think " Well it won't happen to me ". Such ashame that young people don't realize what they are doing at the time, or anyone for that matter. I'm not saying " don't do it", because I have no right to, but I think that people should be more aware.

Ughhh!

predisposition is probably one reason, also the purity of the pill is very important

I already told my parents if anything happened to me I have offiered to donate my body parts..just not my eyes and skin. I dont think my dad was too crazy about idea...but i basically told him what good is my body parts to me when I am dead if I can help someone living in need.

Posted by TRANCEEEE on May-05-2006 04:50:

A study published this week in the British Medical Journal found that 81 people died from using MDMA (ecstasy) in Britain between 1997 and 2000. But nearly two-thirds (62%) of those deaths also involved other drugs, usually opiates, and only 7% were attributed to ecstasy poisoning (overdose) alone. A little less than one-third (31%) of the deaths were attributed to "other causes," such as heat stroke or heart attack.

My parents were the same way when I told them until they thought it over awhile, wouldn't you know that they now are donars as well.

Kelly! You are too wonderful. I did the same thing. I have it marked on my health card that I am a donor. I think it is a great thing to do. I know it may be creepy to some people, but if you think about it, if your parts are still functionable when you're dead, pass them on. You may not want to be seperated from your body, but in all honesty , be for real you wont know.

me too

in all honesty i never wanted to be put in a coffin and burried with my name on a stone. That creeps me out more than donating my body parts.

most likely DXM or PMA. MDMA has rarely (if ever) been associated with expanding 'cerebrospinal fluid'. DXM and PMA are both substituted for MDMA because its cheeper to produce and more stable (ie less risk of your lab blowing up)

btw: what do you mean by cerebrospinal fluid. The idea that ecstasy does anything to your spinal fluid is urban myth and has not been proven to occur to any harmful levels. The fact that your back is sore at the end of the night is more likely to be caused from using the muscles all night dancing and lack of proper nurition than anything else. The major cerebral fluid effected with ecstasy is obviously serotinin but it playes a deletion role which in turn has a role in the brain uses other neurotranmitters such as dopamine.

The main way a brain could expand is if she was really over hydrating because someone told her to drink lots of water because E makes you need water. Now if she was on really good MDMA she might just be sitting off on the side in a cooler area, not dancing, just hanging out (hence not sweating a lot) and the whole time throwing down the water bottles one after the other. There have been cases of this being documented. The other likely posibility is that she already had existing medical conditions and the over heating/hydration merely set off the resulting problems.

Now all that being said:
1) my sincerest condolences go out to her and her family and friends. I lost one of my very best friends last year due to an allergic reaction and I know it can be hard to loose someone when you think something could have been done differently to save them and keep them there.
2) I hope the media doesn't blow this way out ration and try to shut down every afterhours event in the country because of this.

That's what I think as well. Instead of having my family and friends mourn over my grave, why not " donate " myself to someone and make them proud that I did it. Most people I know respect donors, and I also know people and have family and friends that depend on donors,so I'd like to help out the ways I couldn't before.

thanks for the info
=D

cerebrospinal fluid of the brain ... cerebro meaning brain ...the fluids are connected ; spine + brain
in this case we're talking about the brain

it's not a myth. 2 of my friends participated in some medical survey/study about E, well they did spinal fluid checks on both of them to see if they are indeed E-poppers (that study payed well), since E leaves some sort of residue (not sure it's a right word) behind
