Sad story
on Tuesday i had to go to York Central Hospital
and one of my friends who works there told me that there was a girl in Critcal care who consumed 2 E pills at (*edit* - no way to know 100% what club she was at, so lets not spread rumours) and suffered from a horrible side effect ...
her brain + cerebrospinal fluid expanded and she was later put off life support ...
she passed away.
I saw her family crying out side the CCU .. such a sad scene ...
thought of sharing
My prayers are with the family.
Let this be a lesson to you pill poppers, becarful.

The family JUST lost thier child, it's hard enough to think about that, but then to think about her being cut up and given away. The same thing happend when my bestfriend died in a car accident, the doc had asked the same thing, my friends mom flipped.. |

People don't think about the side effects at the time of popping, or if they do, they think " Well it won't happen to me ". Such ashame that young people don't realize what they are doing at the time, or anyone for that matter. I'm not saying " don't do it", because I have no right to, but I think that people should be more aware.
Ughhh!

A study published this week in the British Medical Journal found that 81 people died from using MDMA (ecstasy) in Britain between 1997 and 2000. But nearly two-thirds (62%) of those deaths also involved other drugs, usually opiates, and only 7% were attributed to ecstasy poisoning (overdose) alone. A little less than one-third (31%) of the deaths were attributed to "other causes," such as heat stroke or heart attack.

most likely DXM or PMA. MDMA has rarely (if ever) been associated with expanding 'cerebrospinal fluid'. DXM and PMA are both substituted for MDMA because its cheeper to produce and more stable (ie less risk of your lab blowing up)
btw: what do you mean by cerebrospinal fluid. The idea that ecstasy does anything to your spinal fluid is urban myth and has not been proven to occur to any harmful levels. The fact that your back is sore at the end of the night is more likely to be caused from using the muscles all night dancing and lack of proper nurition than anything else. The major cerebral fluid effected with ecstasy is obviously serotinin but it playes a deletion role which in turn has a role in the brain uses other neurotranmitters such as dopamine.
The main way a brain could expand is if she was really over hydrating because someone told her to drink lots of water because E makes you need water. Now if she was on really good MDMA she might just be sitting off on the side in a cooler area, not dancing, just hanging out (hence not sweating a lot) and the whole time throwing down the water bottles one after the other. There have been cases of this being documented. The other likely posibility is that she already had existing medical conditions and the over heating/hydration merely set off the resulting problems.
Now all that being said:
1) my sincerest condolences go out to her and her family and friends. I lost one of my very best friends last year due to an allergic reaction and I know it can be hard to loose someone when you think something could have been done differently to save them and keep them there.
2) I hope the media doesn't blow this way out ration and try to shut down every afterhours event in the country because of this.
