Price of food

Ok I dont know if its me but food is expensive as fvck. Just the other day I was starving so I decided to get a Chicken Ceaser Salad from nearby Mr Greek. It cost me $12!!!! for lettuce and about 12 strips of chicken. mind u it was great but wow $12 for a salad. Then I noticed that a meal at a fastfood place averages to about $6-8. That is alot of money for 1 meal. ugh but who am i kidding, i'll still end up buying it.

that's nothing in comparison to London or Geneva. when i lived in either one of those places i basically had to starve myself as a vegitarian or go grocery shopping across the border in france or germany (in euros) b/c basically you get a piece of meat that's about the size of your pinky for almost 3-4 times the amount here in canada. going grocery shopping - i don't even want to mention going out for a meal or drink - was always such a nightmare. for the most basic things like bread, eggs, milk, water, and maybe a super thin and small piece of chicken breast i spent close to 100CHF! also, just as an example, if you go to mcD's in CH you get a meal for $12-15. ridiculous!!! at the time u also had to be afraid to get mad cow disease! bleh! although ...alc & cigarettes are always very cheap. talk about healthy living! i'm glad to be back in canada where meat, veggies and fruit are not cloned or full of pesticides and sold at a decent price.

its true

in september a 1.89L of tropicana OJ was $3.49, now it is $3.99

many other things are mroe expensive.

its the price of fuel. food has to move...

everything will be going up over the next year.

I have noticed that food prices have been going up slowly over the past few years. A friend of mine works @ Mr. Greek Express and I went there the other day for a classic dinner and it was like 15 bucks, and I flipped. I was like WHO the f*ck pays this for a dinner that, to be honest, isn't that great. They raise the prices and can do it worry because they know costomers keep coming back. I am very surprised that prices are what they are now. But even more amazed at the fact that the " healthier " the food that you buy, the more expenzive it gets.

Healthier is in quotation marks because usually nothing is healthy in resturants anymore.

But with our high Canadian dollar corporations are gonna pass on the savings to us. Oh and the government is gonna make essential food items cheap for us aswell.

Oh and I just saw a pig fly. Mmmm flying bacon.

Think again.

But yes food in Europe is disgustingly expensive. Mind you now with the euro and all Italians now cross the border to switz to do grocery shopping and to get gas.

that's what I was thinking when I saw that post. Canada has resonably lax pesticide and genetically modified food legislation.

Mind you i'm all for genetic modification, with limits of course. It's just he media scaring the masses.

Mind you this whole "organic" thing that people keep babbling about to make themselves feel better is an utter scam.

my friends and i do the occasional "jarvis run" or "whore tour" after a club sometimes. i remember a few years ago a blow job was $50 and the other night my buddy asked how much for head and the bitch said $100. lol

the ho was suckin on something and my buddy asked "what is that? a buttplug?" she started kicking and screaming "you're disgusting!" and my buddy said "look who's standing on the street corner" and we peeled outta there.

its always fun to harrass the hookers. good times.

Food in Toronto is way too expensive. There is no reason in the world why a souvlaki dinner should be costing you $20. for example. Even in the most expensive places in the world you can find good healthy meals for under $5. That wont even buy you a happy meal in Toronto any more.

Part of the problem is our rediculous tipping expectations. But the price of the food itself is also an issue. I think its due to excessively high rents, regulations and taxes that are burdened onto the retailer.

However even groceries are ridiculous. Yes gas prices are a bit to blame but i think its more preditory pricing. If you have noticed, the food retailers have merged quite a bit in the last 10 years. Now you have loblaws group, oshawa group and those who own sobeys and thats it.

Posted by Mako on May-06-2006 21:16:

Wasn't there something that was passed that made it so that healthier food was more expensive? (I think a tax) Or something like that, like a couple of years ago.

yeah the best part is that occasionally on TRIBE.CA you get users wondering what happened because everyone is talking about electronic music rather than hookers.
TERB.CA has been adopted by some tribers as the unofficial sister site to tribe.ca lol.
For those of you wondering that's the only reason I even know of TERB.ca but there are some pretty fricken funny 'reviews' of peoples dates. lol.

I went into a McDonalds, it was $13 CDN for a burger. Happy I did not eat any McDonalds in Europe when I went.

The Pizza was like a couple bucks more but it was tasty.

What good are you when you're 80 anyways? THe difference of eating fast food, in a controlled manner (ie, not being a literal fatass) gives you maybe an extra 5-10 years. Food is not the determining factor I"m afraid. Also, there are the benefits of less stress by eating what you want...

As to Mr.Greek, fcuk that place. I used to go there often enough, and skipped on it the last few years. Too pricey for what you get, IMO.

BTW, when's Greek festival this year?
