While you're there, check out the original Departure mix. If you want to comment on that, head over here. Peace.

Mixed on 2 x CDJ100. Post effects editing on Adobe Audition.
Thought about using Ableton but decided to wait until I get more practice and a MIDI controller.

CUE file coming later in the week.

I'm terribly sorry about the technical difficulties I been having with my host. A couple of you sent me messages telling me the link doesn't work so here's the new address. Thanks to Terres and Johan for the heads up.

I renamed my original Departure mix as djrain-departure2003.mp3 and the new one is called djrain-departure2006.mp3. 2006 is 106MB and starts with beats as opposed to 2003's mellow intro. I apologize for the confusion. Hope you enjoy this mix, I put a lot of thinking into the structure of the flow and it took me a long while to find the tracks that felt right to me.

Hey Rain, I really liked this mix. Its not my genre of choice, although you still managed to impress. Your mixing is really good by the way and the first Departure is a one of a kind masterpiece.

Mixing Skills 9.8
Transitions 10

Flow 9.5

Compared to your last Departure mix, this is a very dancefloor-centric mix and has a very different feel but I LIKE IT!
As with all your mixes you never follow, putting in seemingly mismatched tracks but end up creating a beautiful flow. Flow has always been your strong point even with your quirky Arrival.

There's a couple of things I noticed:

01. Phonique ft. Erlend Oye - For the Time Being (Alexkid's Cold Mix) vs The Juan Maclean - Give Me Every Little Thing

This is not an official bootleg or whatever and it does not sound completely like the version Sasha played, what's going on here? In any case, I love this version.

03. The Similou - All This Love (The Drill Remix)

Did you edit this track? Shorten it or anything? It sounds different.

07. Tomas Andersson - Washing Up (Tiga Remix)

Very very dirty.

09. Lula - The DJ, The Music, and Me (Peace Division Vocal Mix)

A bit too long, I wish you edited this.

Overall I give this mix a 9/10 because it's a mix that definintely speaks to the dancefloor with tremendous potential from start to end. Very good track selection, a good mix of old and new.

I'm flattered yet again JP, I'm glad you enjoyed something that you normally don't listen to.

You nailed it right on the head, this mix is best interpretted on the dancefloor because it's housey with a generous serving of easy listening grooves. I admit it's not the freshest tracks but I think the rhythm and momentum is there to carry the listener from start to end without skipping a beat. As for some of your observations, the Phonique vs. Juan Maclean track was overlaid by me. I found the Maclean track and dissected the beginning and changed the note in order to make it harmonize with the Phonique track. I also added bits of the original mix for the Similou track and overlaid it ontop of the Drill version. Hope you liked it. I didn't do much else in terms of editing tracks but I did some subtle effects and the not-so-subtle reverb in the beginning of the Similou build up HAHA. I'm really glad you liked this mix, I hope Departure will be a series that'll bring you back to good times of the past.

Yo, thanks for listening. The 2006 mix is definitely different than 2003, it's almost pure house music and it's a very dance floor based mix. I'm glad you liked the original though and if you change your mind after relistening please post up your comments, I would like to read.
