Review: Ultra Spin 10 @ Guvernment Complex
Holy crap I saw a lot of people!
Loved the decorations in Guvernment.
That Yoji guy is pretty scary looking in person, hah.
Axwell destroyed the Drink.
I need to go to sleep. I'll have more to say when I wake up.
And yeah, this is Laura.
what a night.
I'm going to keep this short and sweet.
Rank 1 - honestly he looked like he was really bored up there, nevertheless good tunes 7/10
Yoji - umm...he...killed...it, nothing more to say. I love his attitude and style, the man knows how to shake up a room. 12/10
I was going to check out Axwell for a bit but Yoji didn't let me
Anyway, good to meet some new TA's.Over-all the crowd was pretty good.

They should have had Guy Ornadel for 12 hours and shot the Yoga Boji Bear guy.
Then I saw Cuzo dancing giving out flyers, best part of the night.

axwell was boring...honestly it feels like these european djs think we live in some kind of a hole and we dont have an edm scene here so they play stuff from 6months ago if not a year ago. We are seriously so lucky we have manzone&strong/addy etc that play the newest stuff when the tracks come out. Im not gonna lie most tracks he played i've heard many months ago and that sucked, i was expecting some new stuff that no one has heard before.
then went to see yoji, wow that was so fucking cool and different. So much energy everywhere, people going nuts
almost died when i heard prodigy - firestarter
very unique music and would love to see him again.
6/10 axwell
10/10 yoji
also met some TA's
FunkyGroove, dance2dabeat, Cosmic Fur, lopi, nada, jay and a few more that i dont rememebr now
great meeting/seeing you guys.
now sleep.
I almost didn't come out for this and thank goodness I did. After last week's debacle at A+B, I needed something to get my ass grooving. Thanks Jenn for driving me!
Got in at 12. Guy Ornadel surprised me. Then again, I didn't know much about him but he played a solid set starting with some anthem trance (though that mashup of air for life and tracking treasure down is so meh) and got techy and back to anthem trance again. Got me going, kinda looking goofy with that caution tape stuck around my head. Well, one way of being remember; being a silly foolish mortal.
Rank 1 was just pure fun. So far, best trance I've heard this year. Tunes after tunes of goodness, though there was that bit of electro which I didn't like, so I went to check out Dave Ralph in Guv for 20 mins or so. Sounded very similar to a Mark Oliver house set so got back to rest of Rank 1.
The main course being Yoji and he delivered in typical Yoji fashion. So predictable, but it was still good. More techno than hardstyle or hardhouse IMO. That last 40 mins or so of trance was a bit interesting.
Overall, a good night. Got rid of a lot of pent up dancing from last few months. Body hurts. Now going to bed.
Tunes of the Night: Simon Patterson - F16 and Stoneface & Terminal - Summerscape.
Overall: 9/10
PS: I saw Swamper's deltron shuffle. Now my life is fulfilled
PPS: Love meeting new TAs, even if I don't remember a lot of your names! (sorry!)
PPPS: Kristina, so can I stop being palm tree now?
well before I lay down and get some sleep I will write a small review.
I wasn't suppose to go to this event. I had decided there wasn't really anyone that I wanted to see or that I hadn't already seen in the past. But with some last minute decisions Yohan and I decided to make the trek to Guv and I am sure glad that I did.
Not only was the TA turnout amazing, but I stayed in the KH all night long and danced to the trance..
Guy's set was absolutely amazing. Tordan and I relived our moment at BeB there for awhile and I was in my glory. It was a good way to start off my night. I think this was more of a techno set than anything else, but it still had the trance roots in there. Last time I saw him was November 2003 I believe and I don't remember him being this good then.
Rank 1.. Piet as I told you, I thought your track selection was amazing and it was a well put together set. Considering this girl doesn't listen to trance anymore.. my feet and legs were moving and my hands were up in the air an awful lot last night..
You played a bit of everything, mixed it up and kept it interesting. Huge change since I saw you last in 2004. Thanks again for the photo and it was a pleasure meeting you as well and maybe someday I will see you in Holland
Yoji.. WOW! not what I was expecting at all. I honestly didn't really know what to expect. The first hour and a half of his set I just couldn't stop dancing. The beats and the energy levels were insane. About 2 hours in, I just couldn't bring myself to move anymore and the music was so loud that I actually started to get a headache and then just didn't have the energy to keep on going so I went to sit down and relax until the lights came on and it was time to leave.
I really didn't expect to have such a great time tonight as I did. I am extremely glad that I came out. I loved all the birthday wishes that I got throughout the night (hehehe) and I loved the shocked look on a few of your faces when you saw me there knowing full well I didn't plan on going
I enjoyed all of your company (too many to list this time round) and sharing the dancefloor with a number of you again after a few months of not really seeing you guys! There is also another certain someone that I spent most of the night with that it was a nice surprise to see him out as well and definitely made my night that much better
And another special thanks to Shaya for my GL and Yohan for covering everything else. I was a lucky girl lastnight
Anyhow, review finished and I need some sleep now
I can't believe I had to leave before Yoji even went on
All I can say is Guy Ornadel absolutely killed it, bomb after bomb, I went mental. Rank 1 was pretty good too, a lot of their stuff was rediculously epic, which was a good time to catch my breath.
Im never drinking coolers again, forcing myself to puke halfway through the night so I dont accidentally do it later = not fun.
Second best night in my clubbing experience. And for suuure the MOST MEMORABLE!
BEST NIGHT IN THE GUVERNMENT COMPLEX! PERIOD!
pushy
scetchy
hot
Beautiful, just BEAUTIFUL!
Yoji 12/10
PietRank1 10/10 - second best trance set this year!
Sydney Blu 10/10
Ornadel 8/10
more later!
Awwwwwwwwwwwww! I seem to have missed a great night again. I's seen Ornadel and Rank 1 a couple of years ago at the Guv before on separate occasions, and both were awesome. And yeah, Rank 1 are legends of the ol' rave scene! Can't wait for Freedom.
just got home now 9:15.........UNBELIEVEABLE MUSIC..
GUY ORDANDEL , RANK 1 AND YOJI ABSOLUTELY RIPPED IT!!!

omg!! (wow i start every review of mine as OMG) lol
ok, first of all Paul, SORRY for being 45 minutes late, and Cam, thank you for the ride back
love you both
as for the night - great TA turn out as per usual
all the girls (Kelly, Lopi-Jen, Mada, Nada (*ORGASM* outfit!), Sam) looked uber sexy
the guys, as usual, great dancing with most of ya
some new faces tonight! omg, Eric, you totally rocked my night!! don't you DARE be nasty again on TA because I'll find you and bitch slap you for that
starting off with those tequillas, tying bows out of the caution tape and then getting into the Drink *solely* cos of my bikini NOT cos of what you told the bouncer
srsly, you definitely made my night tonight
Mako (I DO REMEMBER your name, however not sure how to spell it now
), you're a star, was a blast hanging out with you
ok, the music: I'm sorry all the Yoji fans, but he was sooo not my thing at all tonight...i tried for half an hour at the beginning of his set, no luck with me, too repeatitive, I felt like my head is being bashed with a sledgehammer...ran off to the Drink and enjoyed myself moving my feet to some hot house
Rank 1 was absolutely awesome, made my night with 2 Devine - Black is the Colour
yeei!! love that tune so much!!
overall a great night, was nice seeing most of the ppl from friday night, 2 days with the TA's in a row, W00T!!
pics soon, sleep sooner.
If that wasnt the hardest shit ever......i dont know what hard is.
Yoji raised Hell......then he fucking destroyed Hell and made it his little bitch.
Yoji is gold, gold, gold.

platinum
I had an alright time last night.
I spent pretty much the whole night in The Drink. Wandered thru the main room / kool haus / gallery ONCE and ummmmmmm yeaaaa crowd + music, not really my thing lol. As per usual The Drink was where the party was at.
M+S were droppping lots of sick tunage b4 Axwell came on. And Then Axwell came on and the first few tunes were OK but everything after that was kinda lame / cheesey / played out. I would have had more fun if M+S had stayed on all night. Oh well ... still a decent time out last night! I'd love to see someone like Mark Knight, Audiofly or King Unique or up in that space.

its like funky electro house / commercial sorta house music!
UNBELIEVABLE night!!
Wow where do i begin. i guess a good place to start would be at Dundas and Sherbourne, a big thank to penny (Girllovingvibe) for hooking up the passes. They really came in handy. Got into the club at 11pm through the Gallery entrance only to realise they dont let you go through till 2am! i guess ALL ACCESS doesnt really mean all access. We decided that staying in the gallery for 3 hours we would miss out on way too much fun, so after a brief negotiation with the doorman he let us in for a nice 20, who said money doesnt lead to satisfaction. Entering the main room Mark Oliver was setting the mood for a WIKKID night out, Mark never dissapoints. Already there was bunch of TA's front and center rocking the house. Too many names to mention, but thanks for recognizing me and coming to say "whatsup". Most of the night was spent with two absolutly interesting people. Thanks Karim and G/f (so sorry i forgot ur name) i really enjoyed ur company. RJ post those pictures buddy. As for the DJ's i really enjoyed most of them
Dave Ralph - very housy, solid tracks, got me going 9/10
Guy - didnt expect alot from him but was pleasantly surprised 10/10
Rank 1 - the epitome of trance music, i do agree Piet looked a little bored, there was minimal crowd interaction from this guy. Got bored after a while and decided to check out the gallery. It is so FUCKING loud in there, so glad i brought my earplugs this time. I dont know how guys survive without. Finally 4pm comes around...
Yoji - INSANITY!! this guys is a FREAK, i dont think the Koolhaus has ever experienced such damage. He has a signature move of putting the record in his mouth, love'd it. This guy is crazy and i would definately see him again. I could really only handle about an hour of him, after my legs would just not keep up. As we were resting on the couches at the back Lara comes running to tell us that Mark was dropping some bombs in the mainroom. So off to the main room we went, Mark Oliver completed my night with a Flawless set. I have not felt this content in a long time.
Kinda of an extended review than my usual two lines, but tonight i really felt like i was really part of the big TA family. Once again thanks to everyone who introduced themselves, it was good party'ng w/u. Too many names to mention but u know who you are. The person who kinda ruined it was Lara, i dont know what u have against me really theres no need to be rude and ignore people.
I hope this review makes some kind of sense. Sleep sounds oh so good.
im out.
my share of pics:
